    Hey TW...

A buddy is looking to buy 2006 DCSB PreRunner with 114k miles in Irvine. I believe it's been a CA truck. I'm trying to help with any info, since he's new to the truck world.

Can you's give any points of things to lookout for or issues with this model year, or something with this kind of mileage?

@Yotamac thanks for heads up on engine mounts, frame rust and leaks.

    Thanks in advance

Head gasket..number 6 springs a leak as I found out the hard way. Compression test the motor cold and see what you get. My highest was in the 150s, the lowest, #6, barely got to 120

I just passed 120k miles on my 05 pre runner and just had to have my front wheel bearings replaced there more expensive than the 4x4 model and I also did my spark plugs but so far the truck has been pretty reliable with out any issues

Timing cover leak (right in the P/S pump area), front wheel bearings, leaking condenser, hole in the frame (not so much from CA though haha), try and check for failing LSD clutches in the rear axle, I think all the pre-runners from that era came with them?

Being a CA car, not too much worries about rust. Similar to other cars, make sure there are service records and all the major service has been done (or factor it into the price).

Just got my 06 RC PreRunner with 116K from CA, and it's been nothing but reliable.
