Can MTS/Locking Diff be added to Tacoma Limited?

    As others have said locker yes of course. There are great aftermarket options.

    I refuse to believe anyone needs MTS or crawl control. People have travelled the world in the toughest terrain without it for years. If you are dedicated enough to install an aftermarket locker then you are fully capable of learning the techniques required to not need MTS. Just my opinion

    Typically I don't think many people drop $40,000ish on a new truck and tear it apart too much in the first year. Most people's bank account needs to bounce back first! Hahaha

    Why not just buy trd OR with JBL to begin with, paint the things you want painted, get better rims/tires as most end up doing anyway, add seat covers. What does the limited offer beyond that the TRD OR with JBL doesnt? Suspension on TRD OR is better too

    MTS is both good and bad for amateurs.
    Will help them when they get stuck...but give them a false sense of security thinking they can go anywhere.

    well that and I'm sure no one wants to swap out diff components when there is the howling diff issue still.
    Change your diff and you can bet your ass they won't be warrantying that when they finally figure out whats wrong.

    I guess I figured that out before I bought by researching the options and values vs. What it would cost to add certain mods for capabilities here. I don't think the user will need a locker for his described uses anyway.... a locker is usually only necessary in fairly extreme conditions

    the traction control on it actually really sucks.
    I'm not referring to driving on the normal roads. Just our street in particular which is a horse shoe shape and has a pretty decent slope to it.
    Once you get off the street its fine its the getting out of the drive way and off our street thats the problem. there's an island at the top so once you slow down to go around it you usually get stuck. If you could keep momentum it would be fine but otherwise it always causes problems for everyone, and our street is one of the last ones to be plowed. If it wasn't for that little island it would be fine but you need to slow down to turn so you don't slide right into it and screw up your car but once you slow down and get around half of it you usually get stuck.

    But +1 for the maxtraxx. I have a set of knock offs that I keep with my jetta in the winter to get out of the snow, they work great. I'll likely buy a proper pair once I get the taco since I'm not even sure if the ones I have are strong enough for a truck. Ones already cracked just from my car lol.

    steep hills
    heavy articulation where you'll have one wheel completely coming off, only things I can think of where they really come in handy
    rock crawling they help a lot though too.

    But ya given he's only going camping I don't think he'll need them.

    I only use the crawl control as downhill assist, its awesome because you can modulate the speed. Our gearing simply isn't low enough to go down hills without using brakes or downhill assist, so it's nice to have control over it.

    I set the MTS when I'm in 4LO if I remember, but its just to keep wheel spin down.

    I've only used the locker to reduce my approach speed and tire spin. I haven't truly needed it yet.

    my neighbors are a bunch of old miserable cunts.
    can't park on the street anymore because some old shit cant maneuver his camry through two parked cars. meanwhile the garbage trucks do it no problem. so he complained to the city now we can't park.

    and those that aren't old and drive leave late enough for work that the street is plowed by then. They usually plow our street around 7 30 8am. I leave at 5 30 for work lol.

    I'll likely be adding front locker too when I regear.

    noob question as I've never had to do a regear myself since it was always done on past vehicles before I bought them. Do you need to regear both rear and front diff together or no? I'm only thinking do them one at a time so its easier on the bank. Or just save more and do them both at the same time?

    You can do one at at time, but you CAN NOT use 4wd. You blow up the transfer case and/or driveshafts.

    The wheels will be spinning at different speed. So the gearing needs to match in order to use 4wd

    1) Seat covers blow. I'm sorry, they do. Build quality is just not the same as actual leather seats. Anyone who tells you that seat covers are the same as actual leather seats has either never had leather seats in a car, or is lying to you. I have had multiple cars with leather (previous car was Grand Cherokee Overland which has quite comfortable leather seats) and the Tacoma Limited's leather seats are definitely quality and even beat out my old Jeep for comfort. If you want to make the Katzkin argument then I can get on board because those are actual leather seats meant to replace a stock seat, hell my local dealership even advertises them in their accessories department.

    2) Bilstein shocks are good but in the long run I plan on doing a Fox build for my Taco anyway so that was not really a selling point for me. For now, my Revtek suspension kit does what it needs to at a decent price :)

    3) Just checked Toyota website to make sure and I am 99% positive that TRD OR does not have heated seats option. I could possibly get it installed after the fact but I don't know if that is true and heated seats are a must for me, especially with all the time I spend in the snow and mountains. I even run them right now on my way home from playing soccer because it soothes back and legs.

    Obviously there are a lot of differing opinions in this thread on whether MTS is/isn't a must have but I have done offroading without MTS like systems before and all I really wanted to know is whether or not the system is so good that I am missing out on something. Based on the responses I am seeing, the answer is no and I will be fine for what I want to do.

    Off road has heated seats. Leather is easily swapped, locker/MTS/crawl control isn't
