Definitely not going to be going rock crawling in this truck, last time I went rock crawling I was in a buddies Jeep and we rolled. Let's just say that was enough rock crawling for me to last a life time :)

When you say deep water crossing, how deep is deep? I have done a couple feet before without the need of a locker and I feel like anything deeper than that and you are starting to get into snorkel range aren't you? I mean unless your rig has crazy clearance.

    OR has the heated seats

Not to mention if leather was all you really wanted that bad for the money you'd save buying the OR instead of the limited you could have paid an upholstery place to do a proper leather interior.

Ah ok, like I said, I checked Toyota's website and it was not an advertised option so maybe it is standard? They just don't say anything about it in the "Build Your Own" section of the site so I erred on the side of it not being offered.

well yes I was referring to snorkel range. But either way whenever I went out in my uncles trucks or my old jeep I'd always throw the rear locker on just to be safe.

They mention it in an ARB video too. just in case you start to slow down and need that extra traction its great to have on.

ya I was thinking about the theory of it but wasn't sure.
so I will be waiting to get both regeared.
How do the e lockers hold up? I've never owned one so not sure how they last I'm used to the ARB lockers so thats the only reason I was thinking of getting the rear done as well.

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm faaaaaiirly confident (75%+) that I'm not really going to be doing deep water crossing in this truck to get to the places I want to go, but that is good information and I will keep that in mind.

Really my main concerns are snow, deep snow, rough terrain that requires good clearance and solid protection against impact. Right now I feel like my truck has that covered.

Haha that seems so funny to me. When I think of SR5 models, I think of work trucks meant for fleets with almost no bells or whistles. Toyota is stepping up their game! Ha

    not really.
dude my sisters base model honda civic comes with heated seats and rear view camera lol.
These features are so cheap now that everyone comes with them. they aren't anything special anymore.

Yeah that must be the case. I got my wife a new RAV4 XLE at the same time we got the Tacoma (as it turns out, it's much easier to justify a new truck when you buy your wife a new car lol) and that thing has adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, self parking, the list goes on. I mean the damn the car just about drives itself. We didn't have to add any of those options, just came with the car.

for snow a locker probably isn't even that great of something to have. The LSD which I think you also get on the limited would be best for snow.
I've driven both locked and open on snow. Open was better, LSD was even better.
    Thats my opinion at least.

If you're concerned with snow do like Aussie and I mentioned just have a set of maxtraxx. Might have been made in australia for sand but they work great in snow too. Really a good set of maxtraxx will probably get you out of most problems.

well you see the problem is here in north america we let anyone drive...and many of them really shouldn't be driving.
Hell here in ontario you don't even need to do a drivers test if you just came here.
Seriously people can come fresh off a plane from a 3rd world country, countries that barely even have roads and they are suddenly licensed to drive on our roads here.
Unless they did finally change that but I know for years it was fine.

So we need to make cars that can pretty much drive themselves.
Besides people are idiotic fucks and still don't get that texting and driving does not work. Every day I see someone do something stupid from distracted driving. Some girl ran a stop sign, then a school bus with flashing lights and then evetually stopped at a red light when I got beside her, her face was down texting away. Its pathetic.

What makes the arb locker so much better than the e locker?

    for one they're much stronger
engage easier (in my opinion) and faster.
they sound great when they disengage lol.

I'm biased. My old jeep had front and rear ARB, both my uncles trucks I used to go out in had front and rear ARB as well.
They're the only lockers I've used and never let me down.

These engines don't make any power and have pretty high gears. E locker is plenty strong. That small subsection of owners who rock crawl may see a strength improvement. But that's mainly the Moab guys

and if you're doing that much rock crawling you probably want an SAS too lol.

like I said I'm just slightly biased because I've never had anything besides ARB and I loved them.
