While the 2016 and 2017 Tacomas are very nice trucks, it is a smart idea to wait for 2018. There are a lot of bugs in these trucks, and they were pushed out the door with inadequate testing performed. A friend of mine is a veteran Toyota master tech, and he advised the bugs will be worked out in 2018. While this is just his opinion, he has a lot of experience with Toyota, and I fully respect his judgement. I know this will make a lot of Toyota fans angry, but I thought it to be kind to let others, that want a new Toyota, to wait is out a little bit and avoid some of the stress and headaches many 3rd generation Tacoma owners are facing.

any bugs they work out for the 2018 will likely be a recall for the 16/17 though?
And some that are in the market are in the market because they need a new vehicle and can't wait till 2018. Like me.
Sure my car could go till 2018. But I need more cargo space. I have a lot of stuff coming up including trips to the east coast of canada. Need a truck for all of it. Can't wait another year till 2018 models. It was hard enough waiting for 2017.

I understand your thoughts. I felt the same and bought one. I don't think Toyota will recall the flawed vehicles unless there is financial risk, for Toyota, due to safety concerns. Most, not all, of the bugs are very annoying but not safety threats.

Correct. It takes them about 2 years historically speaking.

ok but anyone with a warranty at that point should be fine though?
even if it isn't recalled you can have it fixed under warranty.
2017 should be fine with that its only the 2016 that might be an issue if they didn't get an extended warranty.

I am surprised Ford is not capitalizing on this. I am hearing, from a Ford contact, 2019. Expect a possible Bronco also.

No it's not. Anyone who thinks this engine trans is an improvement is not being objective.

2014 Jeep Cherokee was loaded with issues. Forum speculated 2015 to be better. Nope. Def. by 2016 we'll be good. Nope. 2017 is the year..Already issues posted. Not just issues, same issues from 2014.

Possible. When a product comes out the door with flagrant flaws like this, it makes you wonder what other problems are coming down the pipe; items that fall under the 3 year bumper-to-bumper Waranty. I think it is smart the wait it out until 2018 so you don't end up with a financial liability when the waranty runs out.

They are definitely nicely featured trucks. They just need to work out the bugs.

    Why don't I get a 2017 (since I need a new vehicle) then wait for a 2027?
