Milky Way exposure calculator and histogram explanations: http://www.lonelyspeck.com/milky-way-exposure-calculator/

Themes I've noted from the two night photography classes this week: scout your location when the sun's up, use the histogram to check exposure, intervelometers (over basic shutter releases), do test shots at a high ISO (which means short shutter times) then calculate your stops to get to a better ISO [for brighter night shots, like cityscapes, etc.] for better image quality, light painting (with flashlights, detached flash units, etc.), and using apps like PhotoPills and/or SkyView to know where a particular celestial object is/will be (pair this with scouting your location).

HEY COLORADIANS! LAST CHANCE TO GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME AWESOME STORAGE CASES:

If you are interested in getting some hard military-grade plastic cases/boxes for camping gear, tools, recovery equipment, etc... it's not too late for me to get you some. BUT I HAVE TO KNOW TO BY TOMORROW! I've been shopping around for some of you and @Martyinco will be coming to pick up the load this weekend! If anyone wants in on this deal, here is how it works. Once we determine your desired specs (preferred brands if any, color preferences, size restrictions, dimensions, wheels or no wheels, and anything else, etc) I will check out my local resources (mainly technology companies) TOMORROW and see if I can find anything that suites each persons needs. I can find these in used condition for a fraction of the price new. I am located in Phoenix, but Marty is coming to do a pick up this Saturday to grab a bunch of these to bring back to Colorado with him. If you have questions regarding @Martyinco's delivery plans, please contact him.

    I've found the following brands:

-Pelican (2975s, 1550s, 1650s and 1660s are popular and easy for me to find)
    -Pelican-Hardigg
-Hardigg (Which are what my personal ones are, but harder to find)
-ECS (very hard to find in practical sizes, if you want to go really big, these can be an option)
-SKB (Usually rather expensive, and usually awkward sizes, but usually close to brand new!)

Color wise, most of the cases I find are black or dark army green. Occasionally I'll find grey ones, and rarely do I find tan ones.

I've seen all sorts of sizes/dimensions, so if you want something specific in that regard let me know, but giving me a range is really helpful!

As for pricing... Usually the prices can range from $60-$140 each depending on the case (mainly size dependent). Again, They are also all USED cases but finding functional ones in good condition isn't a problem. Almost all of which are weatherproof and some still have their pressure release valves in working order (which is nice if you are changing elevations often). Once we have established your desired specs, I'll ask for your phone number for when I go shopping so that I can text you about what I am finding before I buy em! If I find what you are looking for and you confirm that you are okay with me purchasing them for you, I'm going to ask to be paid up front via paypal or square. Again, Marty is asking for an additional delivery fee... which he will collect whenever you guys schedule a meet up.

Sound good? Send me a PM!

Here is some pics of past finds...

So I haven't wired anything since it was getting dark, the hardest part where the damn brackets and making sure I didn't leave too much lopsided gaps! I want to wire when its bright outside so I can see and not screw things up once I study you tube. That moment will be like diffusing a time bomb and hopefully I don't fry the damn electrical:anonymous:
