A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
No issues here, but then again the truck is constantly being modified. The one thing I did notice just before my truck left was that the leaf springs did sit almost straight. Don't recall if it was chained down by the time I noticed this, but again in a week or two it won't matter since I will be going with an under the axel leaf spring with new leaf springs. I am waiting on the next V8 Raptor though.

Toyota really needs to look in a mirror and ask themselves, "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?"

Then, maybe they can fix all of the issues for 2018

My Tundra has 135K miles and after putting $3000 into it this summer, I am hoping to wait for the '19. But a Tacoma somewhere, sometime has my name on it.

I heard rumors that the Tundra will be discontinued after 2018.

Any coincidence with this? Can you ask your guy? I'm sure he knows

It is very interesting to know that Toyota Master Tech, is talking like that, he should know how much Money Toyota invested in his product and stand behind his product, Better than most of the Manufacture these days, Look around you Chevy,Ford,Dodge,Chrysler ........

You are right, as far a appearance goes, but Toyota would have 2 years under their belt to make product corrections and restore quality where it lacks.

I was going to buy a 2014, but my friend's mom's dog sitter knows this guy who's wife's gynecologists' step brother is a master engineer mechanic for 82 years, and that guy said to wait a couple years for all the bugs to get worked out.

    So I bought a 2016.

The Tundra is a strong brand. I don't think it will go anywhere.

OP you realize that the same issues that the 2005 trucks had were the same issues that the 2015 trucks had, and the 2016 has 90% of those same decade old issues in addition to its own special problems, right?

2018 will bring nothing but more accessories and a different taillight style.

It's Toyota's worst gas mileage and they don't sell a lot of them. They have reason to use all that shop space in San Antonio to make more Tacomas

I'm not sure how anyone could believe that. Any successful car maker has to sell something that can tow, and as far a Tacoma goes it ain't that.

And the tundra plant here is a bit over 10 years old - so where does that logic go?

You do have a point. I do think the transmissions will get improved valve body hardware, and I think Toyota will get a handle on whatever is troubling the rear axle assemblies.
