How does a 4 hour negotiation go?

    Salesman, "We'll give you $30k."
Customer, "I want $2k more than I paid because it has a sweet decal."
    Salesman, "We'll give you $30k."
Customer, "I want $2k more than I paid because it has a sweet decal."
    Salesman, "We'll give you $30k."

    --------- 4 hours later ---------------

Customer, "I want $2k more than I paid because it has a sweet decal."
Salesman, "$33.5k is the most we can do. Final offer."
Customer, "But I paid $37k for this truck! I'm telling TW about this horrible experience!"

The place I purchased from has a non-commission based sales model, no-haggle pricing, and no add-on fees. I e-mailed them to ask if the truck I wanted was in stock. My sales person e-mailed back to confirm that they had it, and gave me their no-haggle price. It was about $500 better than any other place that I had shopped at. I wrote her back and let her know that I would come that weekend to look at it. When I showed up on Saturday, she had it up front, cleaned- up, gassed up, and ready for a test drive. She gave me the keys and told me to take as long of a test drive as I wanted. Not counting the test drive, my purchase took long enough to shake hands, write the check, and sign the paperwork ... about 15 minutes. It was the best car purchase experience I have ever had.

May I ask how much under MSRP you got your truck for?

OMG ... Which dealership may I ask? :)

I will drive around the world to find this ... "Garden of Eden Dealership" ... that you speak of my son. ;)

Is it located in the land of NoGreedVille ??? ...

Similar to how I got mine, but that's not how the dealer I went to worked.

I called, said I want to order a Tacoma, I want this amount for my trade in, I want to pay this amount for the truck, and I have an appointment at another dealer further south the following morning and would love for them to save me the extra hour of driving.

10 minutes, maybe, and my salesman (who was a nice dude but not the type to do sales) had their purchasing manager on the phone and I was telling her what I wanted to order. Only complaint is that my 3 month order period ended up at 5 months, but not really a big deal, I was essentially driving their car the whole time (my trade in, that they'd already signed off on the day I placed my order).

I sent that purchasing manager 3 other TW members and they all walked away with great prices and service.

It was the best experience I've ever had.

My dealer originally told me that they could sell the 6-Speed Manual TRD Off-Roads "All Day At MSRP or higher"...lol I got my negotiations done in close to 20 minutes. The rest of my wait was signing all the paperwork when I returned to pick it up. I had to wait for the one financial manager there to write it up for me, after 2 other customers.

Surprised they offered as much as they did TBH. Probably was only because they thought they could get to you with the F150 price. You are always going to get less when you trade. Sell it yourself or avoid the hassle and lose the money

I've come to loath selling anything of value on CL or most of the online sites. I'd honestly give up a significant amount of cash not to have to deal with a stream of people making appointmennts and then blowing me off or telling me why my vehicle sucked and why it wasn't worth what I was asking.

Put it into kbb.com and select trade in value. You don't get squat for most modifications and they might even reduce the value. Think what the buyer would wonder if he/she saw a well worn winch, repainted sliders, and some new suspension parts. I would wonder if it was driven hard or to it's limit with certain equipment. You can't sell your sentimental value.

    Or life happens.

Mine was 3 yrs old but only 6600 miles. Guy was leasing and planned to buy, then found out he was having twins. Not conducive for a single cab.

It was tongue in cheek, since I'd found his threads about what a POS his truck was.

What the dealer offered you is actually a very good price. Usually its well below auction prices but what they offered you looks to be right in line with what they are selling for at the auction
