anyone a freemason??

so i've been thinking about joining the local freemason's. i've always wanted to be a part of a great organization and why not be a part of a fraternal brotherhood ya know. i'm definitely ready and willing to take part of the commitments.

so all of you TW men, who all are freemasons??? and do you have any advice or opinions for me???

 

yeah i would like to know also . my olod boss is one and he was going to get me in but i live in nc and he was in va. still would like to be one

I don't think you go to them for membership, they come to you...

I was a DeMolay (young Masons) as a kid. My Dad was 32nd level Mason. If I had more spare time I might look to get back into it, but that time is premium for me now.

 

One has to ask to become a member, they do not actively recruit.

 

Careful of what? Been watching too many conspiracy shows? Actually they practice values that nobody cares about any more.

 

Don't see what conspiracy shows have to do with it, however, I do know some masons and they are very secretive for some reason, and yes I'm sure do do alot of good, but so do other organizations.

They do keep their ways secret but I can assure you there is no evil plot behind that, for what my input may or may not be worth

I'm sure they are a great organization, my father was a mason for years up until his death. I've actually been confronted by a member to come and see what they are about but I turned it down. That's why I think that they must confront you for membership, but I may be wrong. The reason why a said "be careful" is because I also know a member that some of his actions does not support what he stands for in the masons. But I too, do some pretty stupid things sometimes.

I have some friends who are, but they don't talk about it. They have not recruited me and I have not asked for info.

 

Freemasons today are more like Shriners, the Key club, or the Rotary club. They're charity and fundraiser organizations - They wear peculiar hats, but don't drive small cars in holiday parades-
You can't be Catholic and be a freemason (that's the Knights of Columbus) because of the freemason's required belief in one supreme "architect" not several saints, so even though they're not a biased organization many Catholic oriented cultures don't participate.
Although the freemasons are a secretive organization, all of thier writings, codexes, rituals, and sciphers are available from the library of congress. Like the trend in the previous posts - My old man was a freemason too and had many books and paraphenilia laying about. They have a special handshake and can arrange thier hazard flares in such a way as to let other motorists know they're "part of the team", solicit more expedient assistance.

Although they have a storied past with an indeliable impression on U.S History, the odds of a common joe freemason reaching the echelons of whatevers left of the glory of this fraternity is unlikely.

I'd never join because secret societies are not conducive to freedom and independance. If you join with me in a secret then you will keep a secret from me.
