I went by a 4x4 world today and was asking for advice to help fix this rubbing issue. They said that a spacer would just move the rubbing elsewhere and a 3inch lift wouldn't work. My options given were something bigger than 3 or just downgrade to 265s and trade these BF All Terrain 285s for the 265s along with 200$.

I'm not big on off-road or anything. I just love my truck and these tires came with it new. I don't wanna damage anything.

    Thanks!

Your options are to add a wheel spacer or change wheel to one with an offset that moves the inner edge of the wheel outward. Moving the wheel out too far can cause rubbing in other places. Unless I'm seeing it wrong, the rubbing is occurring on the spindle?

3/4" Bora wheel spacers gives you clearance on the UCA's with minimal change. And they're right.....That'll just move the rub somewhere else. That too can be corrected. Goes with the bigger tire territory....

2" to 2-1/2" lift will do just about anything a 3" lift will do at a much lower cost.

If you got 285s and no lift they will always rub something. Gotta lift 3" and get a spacer if you running stock wheels. It will still rub the cab mount at times. If you don't offroad just get the 265s and ou save the money in gas mileage

I agree. Sell the tires and go with 265's.

Just about the same width as 285's....width causes just as many of the rubbing issues as opposed to height

As stated above, this rubbing will not be solved with a lift. You can either get wheel spacers to push the wheel outwards, aftermarket wheels that will accomplish the same thing, or get 265s.

Smart choice! I always recommend discounttiredirect.com to anyone getting tires. They have free shipping, and are the cheapest I've found of anyone for an OTD price.

If your running the sport wheels (17") you can go with a 275 and rubbing will be reduced or possibly eliminated. If your tires have lots of life left in them you could try the 3/4" spacer. Maybe a used set somewhere? As others have stated a lift will not make the tires fit. A 265 is the safest bet thought and will be better mileage ect...
