That's awesome, but there's more trucks that had the batteries go bad.

    Not disputing that
I think in terms of battery life, not a whole lot will vary between the battery's cause of death... Number one killer, heat... Lots of stop and go traffic will allow the heat to get to the battery. The next runner up is leaving it at a poor state of charge for too long. I was never nice to my battery. I like a good sub, who doesn't? I not once babied the battery and once or twice drained to to the point of boosting it when I had to start it back up. I rarely sat in traffic though, so your mileage may vary

There is a problem with our truck's years when you have a high percentage of dead batteries with low milage in this small group.

Maybe it was a bad batch of batteries that went into some trucks that were shipped to Hawaii. Or, like you said, it could be heat. Or, shitty bad battery and heat.

What you call "problem", i call built in profits... They arent designed to last forever. In my experience the battery is a two-to-three year part you use up and replace. Now there are the few that spring for a good battery and have longer lives out of them... But for the majority, statistically speaking, batteries are 3 year, disposable parts. I can understand if youre talking about a 1 year failure, thats out of the norm and should be totally warrantable... But if you got 2 years and some change, just spend the 200 bucks and save yourself the trouble at the dealer...

my first yellow top lasted almost 5 years and only died because my truck sat while I was deployed. I think if it was run more than 20min every 2 weeks it would have lived.

Thats what i mean... Guys know the oem batterys are crap... You lucky if you get 3 years, 2 is more along norm... If you just buy a good battery from the first failed oem battery and maybe in your case a trickle charger just to maintain during extended no-run times

I have a solar trickle charger with a 1-way current now, so I should be good for the next one

yup, i recall a few of you guys mentioning that about your batteries. I mentioned that to the dealer here and they were like, :notsure:

I guess I didn't mind since they replaced it for free. maybe I'll get another 2 years out of this one :bananadead:

Hopefully it lasts longer than that. I knew Servco Waipahu was going to hassle me because I have aftermarket electrical crap and blame the dead battery on that, so I replaced it with an Optima. It's been going strong since.

About that. The place is marked up like 40% on most items. And I seem your truck in the little one way alley parking spots at windward city I park a few spots in front.

We have yet to try that place. There was too much people in line trying to eat over there when it first opened. The line isn't as bad now though.
