Its more like $300+ when its all said and done after shipping. Dakars can be found for $413 many places online and from dealers, often with free shipping. Just saying...

The 63" are a soft spring so they will ride just fine and with the length they are flexy. But that being said they will not hold the extra baggage you are carrying around. Not sure what spec build you are doing on your Alcan's Jack, but mine are 61"s so longer then stock at 59"s. But I love the ride, the flex, and the weight capability of them. The only downside I have seen to Alcan is they too will surface rust after one season. Not really worried about that though because spring steel is bad ass and can rust for years and years and years and still be functional. I am sure I will wear mine out before the rust causes an issue.

I saw someone list some for $500, and the Alcan stuff is around $650 to start... Its only money.

And I bought my Dakars as part of the OME full setup, so I didn't remember what they cost.... Only that for a little more, I probably wouldn't have gone through 3 sets of front shocks, and had a sissy leaf pack.

For those that are claiming the dakars are no good, were you running the additional leaf in the pack? @3378jakesr5 Only asking since I am currently running that setup (with extra weight, and the truck has rake) and curious if its only a matter of time till they flatten out. I ran the pack for two years, added the leaf and I am at two months with rake, and probably close to 500-600lbs of additional weight on an average day (cap, rack, spare tire, tool box, rear bumper etc).

Dakars are awesome if your not hauling a lot of weight. They claim to have a 500lbs over stock rating but any more and they suck which i should refraze to say that they do exactly what they say they will and they do it well. But if you go over that they dont perform well. I only say they suck because when i got them i only had a rear bumper and they were sagging within the first 4 months. I am going alcans because i have a ton of weight, its as simple as that.

Gotcha. Just curious with your experience and not trying to start a pissing match of "i have it so its good" kinda thing, if it came across that way (internet can be deceiving sometime). I did notice mine sagging when I added my cap. Now I had the high clearance rear on, but it sagged to about level when i added the cap and i was bottoming out (maybe close to 400lbs). With the extra leaf it has so far held up.

Really just seeing if I should have just spent the money on another pack instead of spending close to $250 Cdn (about $50 US) on doing the extra leaf (once you get new u-bolts, center pins, taxes, shipping, duties, moose fees...).

I've been really happy with my Dakars, especially for the price.

Added the additional leaf, removed the 2nd overload spring and always have a constant load on them. No complaints.

No i didnt want it to sound like i was chewing out the dakars. You were fine. Mine are just inverted now and i like the look it gives with the 35s but i want a spring set that actually is meant for the weight.

yup, I agree with @3378jakesr5 said. Its added. Hell my cap with my rack and solar setup is probably close to 500lbs. I have to get the bed stiffeners as my bed is beginning to split lol.

my dakars needed the extra leaf to handle the weight, and so far so good, but it does level out with all my gear.

    before extra leaf

    afterwards

    loaded

should be noted. My "loaded" only included camping gear (chairs, table, sleeping bags) and a cooler. I did not have my usual 3 jerry cans of gas on this trip
look forward to the experience. My only other idea for leafs would be the all pro expedition ones. But if alcan works out for you guys, ill go that route, if my leafs shit the bed.

With my topper and rear bumper with swing outs i was seeing sagging/ the springs were 1/2 an inch taller from being completely flat. Now they are negitive 1-2 inches.... Dakars and other thin packed setups can go inverted but its not meant to do it for extended periods of time. image.jpg
Sorry trying to find a good picture to show how much i have on there and how it sits compared to the front.

thanks bud. usually I have a cap, sleeping platform (maybe adds 60lbs or so) and a tool tote (maybe 80lbs) im running stock right now with air bags and hate the ride because im pretty sure my shocks are fairly worn out along with oem leafs which quit trying a long time ago haha.
