The radio in our 2002 taco died, and before I buy a used radio, I have a question.
Will a code be needed to get it to work? How do I get the code?

Also, anyone have a radio at a reasonable cost?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Check the 1st Gen market place. Several trucks are being parted out. As far as a code, if one is needed it would have to come from the dealership.

I got a single din pioneer stereo from the 1st Gen marketplace and it came with the plug n play wiring harness & install kit. 50 watts RMS X 4. Took 15 minutes if that to install. No code needed.

Well a fellow TW member was installing his stereo and I saw him having to solder every wire from the factory harness to the one coming from the back of the stereo. He said it took him 3 hours just to wire up. And no it wasn't me!

what i'm trying to say is as long as your harness can plug into the radio i believe its plug and play i could be wrong that's how all my radios have worked even with a harness adapter

There are also adapters you can plug into your OEM harness to be able to plug into the stereo. This is so you don't mess with the OEM harness. Be a good PO, don't mess with the factory wiring, lol
