I did remove the foam. When I popped the cover off it fell to the ground.
I will save it and the nose piece until warranty is up.
I was amazed to find the dead stink bug in there.

With that new filter I am certain nothing else can make its way in.

Just installed my filter, and replaced the cover, I think it looks better and gets plenty of air. Not much of a different look, before and after. Kept the foam and end piece in my tool box for possible warranty work later on.

Thanks for posting this . Looks like plenty of air can still pass through on the bottom side of the new filter. I thought of maybe MaCGyvering the cover but it will fit! Filter ordered. Thanks!

    Too few to list.
I thought the cover came with the truck originally but I have seen one without it.

I didn't like seeing the filter mesh sticking out, so I slid the filter on as far as it would go, now looks almost factory. If warranty work is ever needed on this, I'll return the factory foam and end piece. There's plenty of air space around the filter, when under the cover, I don't see a problem. I highly doubt the mechanics here will even notice when changing my oil, have one more free change.

Learned something new today. Here's the part# for the cover 17613-0P010 for the 2012-2016. I purchased my truck new and I can assure you it's never had a cover. Oh well????

My 2015 was brand spanking new and had no cover. Still not sure what its function is.

Interesting... I ran the number and on one dealer parts site I saw this:
    Part Number: 176130P010
    COVER, AIR PUMP; MEXICO SPEC

    COVER, AIR PUMP
Is it a Mexican thing? San Antonio vehicles don't need them? :der:
