id definitely trade mizzou for fsu and aTm for clemson in a heart beat. would spice up the competition and recruiting would change tremendously. however mizzou and aTm are too far west to be in the ACC ;(

 

When I say, "concrete title contender" I mean, would you put them up against the Bama's or OSU's or Clemson's/FSU's of the world and truly think, "damn, they should beat them."?

 

aTm can rejoin the Big12 and Mizzou can go to the ACC with Louisville.

 

Alabama and Auburn are in the same market. Not sure the reasoning here? (Not being a dick, I really don't understand it...)

 

Pssssh. I'm guessing at that time, the SEC wanted a PREMIUM to join the conference and Clemson wasn't willing to pay it. Now that Clemson has some success and quite a few more dollars lingering, and the SEC is down the timing is probably better.

 

Could you imagine the potential conference rivalry for USCe and Clemson being in the same conference. What a value add for the fans and the conference that would be!

 

They're both legacy SEC. The TV market talk really only comes in for current expansion decisions. There weren't TV markets when the original SEC was formed.

 

So, television dictates potential epic conference growth.

Seems silly considering people are leaving typical outlets of media to watch on other forms. Streaming is going to kill that shit.

 

Not saying it's not impressive, just wouldn't hang my hat on the success of others. I support my school that's it, I could care less how the other 13 teams in the conference finish.

As for having a better shot at success by being in the SEC, see below...

We didn't join the conference for Academic reasons. The schools in the ACC tend to have better academics and that's why we chose to stick in the ACC.

Also though, we don't need the SEC to look good, we have the longest active bowl appearance streak, 3 national championships in past 25 years, and we were the most dominant team in the 90s with 14 consecutive top 5 finishes in the AP poll (ncaa record). Yes, we had the dark decade, but even during that we never had a losing record.

FSU has never backed away from competition, we'd have a few more rings if Bowden wasn't so stubborn about playing Miami in the 90s. We'd run the table on the SEC east every year.

 

Damn, I wish I could argue with that last statement. I cant. However, I really think UF is on an upswing, and so is UGA. It might be quite difficult for FSU to run the east in the next few years.

All teams that win are 2nd half teams. Nobody ever won a game at halftime

 

I'm pretty sure Bama had the natty locked up at half time against LSU...

 

If they felt that was the case they should have stayed in the locker room. And I wouldn't call 9-0 "locked up"
