I always taste a bit of anything I feed my dogs.

And I'll admit there are some dog treats that aren't all that bad. Petco had some free samples out to feed your dog, I think I ate 2 of them before they said to give my dog one.

At home is more expensive, i looked into it when I put mine down a few months ago.
My dog was under 20lbs and we took her to the hospital to do it. It was about 100$ i think.

    Sorry to hear man.

First off, I'm really sorry that your fur buddy isn't doing well and you have to put him down. I have a ramp for dogs to help them get into the truck/car if you want to borrow it. I know a lot of vets and maybe we can help out somehow? Is it just old age or is something wrong?

    As for at home euthanasia...

I haven't used one, let me explain why.

I have had quite a few dogs and we would always put them down at the same vets office. Now, when I go into those rooms I get really sad because that's the last place I saw my buddy. Not sure if I'd ever want to put them down at the house because every time I see that spot I'd be sad. For me it was very hard to go back to that vet even though they are really good.

However if you are wanting to do an at home I'll reach out to a friend who did that and get you the info.

Also it's my suggestion to take them to a vet, make the vet drug the dog up. Spend some time, then leave the room while the dog is still awake. I stayed with one of my dogs while she went to sleep for good. Fucked me up really bad in the head. I still get nightmares about it.

I stayed with my last dog when we put her down, actually held her, probably the saddest experience of my life literally watching the life leave her

So they actually make it really peaceful and you are present. You let them know when its time.

I will say, it sucks. Watching them go...

How soon does it take for it to fall asleep after getting drugged?

How soon does it pass after falling asleep?

Maybe for some, no, but for me, yes. I don't have kids, I have 6 dogs. I look at my dogs like most people look at their kids. So for me, it's the hardest day of my life each time I have to put a dog down.

The hard part is you hold them, and you feel them go limp, their eyes slowly close, breathing slows down, then you are just left with this bag of fur in your arms, crying your eyes out because there isn't a fucking thing you can do to fix it. The nightmares, the thoughts of "Could I of done something else? Was it the right time?".. It's just really hard for me.

I have them get a shot of Valium, takes about 1 min for them to 'relax'. I hang out for 10 min after that and you can tell when the dog is so high he can't tell his head from his ass.

    That's when I leave.

But the shot takes a minute or two. Feels like it takes hours.

my sister had a cat she had to put down because it came home severely injured one day.

she waited around until it closed its eyes, it was very hard on her for about 3 or 4 months shed cry over it.

Ive never been in those shoes, so I wouldn't know if she was making a deal about it or not
