Hi! New to the Forum. I have a 95 Toyo Tacoma, 3.4 L 5 Speed. I have owned it for almost 4 years. It has run flawlessly and has 146,000 miles on it.
My problem is that in the last couple of weeks it idles really rough. It feels like i am sitting in a wind storm. It runs great while driving, no hesitation, or lack of power, however while sitting idling, it runs very rough, the tach is not going up or down, there is a very strong exhaust smell as well. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

    Welcome to TW!
Is the engine light on? Also, when was the last time the plugs were changed?

The check engine light has been coming on and off for a couple of years. I had it checked when it first came on and they told me it was somewhere around the cat or o2 sensors, hwoever both sensors had been replaced just before i bought the truck. The gas mileage was always the same. I replaced the plugs when I bought the truck, and they have approx, 25000 miles on them.

Without the code, its really hard to diagnose. I would start with the plugs. Check them, and check for burnt electrodes. Then, check the wires. Also, you may want to clean the MAF, and IAC.

Hey! I was cleaning my K&N filter and was on my way to replacing my fuel filter when I noticed a vacuum line that was completely broken off which was going to my intake. Replaced this and the truck now runs like a top again!! Thanks for all your help!! Cheers!!
