You would not have a good time out there the short beds were getting hung up quite going over boulders your long bed with have the wheels dangling in the air over a lot of the trail.

Looks like a lot of fun. Good inspiration for me even though I may never get my truck built up enough for a trail like that!

 

Wouldn't a front locker help more than a rear? It seams like there were a lot of shots of the front wheels suspended and spinning, with the exception of the solid axle on there.

 

No it's the other way around.

 

No because bending a tie rod is incredibly easy. I only used my front locker a couple times on the trip, rear locker was used a lot.

I don't understand the tie rod bending piece. I am not recommending leaving the front locked for the duration of the trail, but only to climb the front over and then pull the back up. The trail looks incredibly technical and difficult so my experience is extremely limited for something like that. However, I can't help but fall back to my own logic that would seem pulling over the ass end, which is a solid axle and most likely planted would be easier than trying to push a heavy front end over from the back.

 

Eric from @RelentlessFab did in Moab, put it in reverse to move over with the front locked, barely moved and bam this happened. At least that's what I remember him telling me, could be a bit more to the story than that but it's very easy to do. Let alone breaking a cv then, @jberry813 did with his front locked on the trail.

 

Yep exactly what happened. Got too close to the ledge seen in the left at the rear of my rig, didnt want body damage. Turned the wheel and put it in reverse, moved maybe 3 feet backward and BANG inner tie rod buckled. Can only assume from the front driver tire not being able to unload stress due to the locker
