    First mtn tandem on a 3rd gen?

    The girlfriend weighs a buck-o-five and runs 50 & 100 mile ultras and I have zero common sense when it comes to when I should be scared so with 7" of travel up front and 6" in the back we get it ripping on the trails!

    what's a decent mountain bike that wont break the bank? I have a trek 3500 that I ride at Rays indoor tracks and on the east rim in CVNP. It works for the rides with kids, but it is pretty shaky on tracks and the breaks are sketchy.

    I think you should go full squish. Full suspension bikes do everything better than hardtails now and weight only marginally more. I ride in Wyoming and Colorado so naturally I prefer full suspension but I'd still go full suspension for tamer, XC trails. I think Giant offers great bang for the buck. If you do wanna stay with a hardtail, plenty of options for sub $1500.

    I had this same rack until someone backed into it and bent the mounting brackets. The good thing is, the bike mounts themselves were fine. I removed them and I'm going to see about powder coating them and mounting them to the factory roof rack.
