It wasn't bad. Remove the sway bar bolt, remove the axle nut, remove the tire rod nut. I used a rubber mallet to loosen the axle from the bearings. Remove the two bolts under the control arm. Gently pry the axle out from the diff. I used the mallet to seat the new axle into the diff and reassembled everything. Took about 1 1/2 hours.

I did have to reach into my bucket of cuss words a few times. But now that I've done it once, I could probably do another one in 45min.

The flange mainly. Now I've got a slight tick under load. I bought a new gasket but decided not to use it since the truck has 35K miles. Ive unloosen the flange bolts and retightend. Will recheck later.

No, I bought a whole axle on Rock auto for $60. I'll rebuild the old one later and have a spare

    new kicks! 5 Falkon Wildpeak t3w 265/75/16

The spare had deeeeep grooves. I need to put something in between the frame and these gorgeous tires to keep that from happening again.

Mine was the same way, but my factory spare was cranked way tight. I bet if you only made it snug you'd be good.
