And then I accidentally ruptured the space time continuum and this happened.

 Can't wait to see the new bumper. I hadn't considered HC, but after seeing Billy's work more recently, I am strongly considering it.

You divided by the number of rear bumpers you had installed?

My wife wouldn't have noticed my front bumper if I didn't need her help with install.

    Congrats on the exciting development.

    That would work too! :D

I weighed the chrome take off with a digital scale in my lab, and it said -17.3 kg.

    Thanks. I'm not alone! :D

I'm not sure sometimes if mine doesn't notice, or doesn't care lol. :notsure: can't tell.

I really love his HC design. And he will do some customization if requested. Very accommodating.

I'm really stoked. I've waited a looooooong time to armor up. As soon as it's on the truck I'm going to make a beeline for the trail that took out my taillight.

I'll still have to wheel cautiously, but the rear end will be solid. :)

To accommodate the HC bumper, are you reconfiguring your rear suspension Nick?

I shouldn't have to. I've calculated the net gain to be around 35-40 lbs. I'll be weighing everything I put on or take off even if the scale goes negative lol

That said, I've considered adding the overload back in, for a 1/2" lift. It will also affect the spring rate of the pack and I'm okay with that. I kind of just want to experiment with it.

I found a spring shop local to me who will make me new u-bolts. Over the phone, I provided dimensions and specs I was looking for. I asked him how long it would take to make them. He laughed and said 5 minutes! Cost is $80 for new u bolts, grade 8 with hardened washers and nuts.

I think that's what I paid for the all pro ones. I was never clear on the All-Pro if they were grade 5, or grade 8 I think they had manufactured both and offered the stronger ones for an up charge...

My knowledge might be dated on that.. or wrong...

If you are getting new u-bolts, bump up to 5/8" diameter bolts. IIRC, stock is ~9/16". The larger bolts are quite a bit stronger.

For other people reading this, with a shackle flip, you need 3 1/4" diameter bend and ~10" length, depending on your particular setup.

Also, you can order them from RuffStuff...

    Thanks Scott.

The stockers are 14mm. The AP ones are 9/16"

    For my own edification:
    • 14mm = 0.5511
    • 9/16" = 0.5625
    • 5/8" = 0.625

I took another look at the Ruff Stuff ones. They seem like a great deal. I don't know if the 5/8" rod would fit the AP top plates I have without modification...

Thanks for the food for thought. :)
