Cheaper then having to fix/replace the bed and another item that adds to the peace of mind.

All the money and time invested into my truck at this point, this is small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

    To each their own though!

They traded a bad ball joint design for a little less beefy bed design. :notsure: tossup?

Agreed. I've done way worse things with $150. None of those involved Kenny Rogers.

I built my own stiffeners with 1/4 plate and built tie down points and the works. Probably cost me like 30$ with the hardware to attach it too.

When I first saw them I thought this is the easiest thing in the world to make. However there's something to be said for a finished product, it saves time. Also the list price on them is $155 as was mentioned, but that's list... Distributors can mark it down some...

I only have the regular leaf pack. And i could guess i have in the 500 pound range.

It handles well and rides fine on the street most of the time, but off-road it doesn't take much to bash the bump stops with the weight.

And my leafs are pretty much flat. I think i can take some stuff out to get a little arch. But i can guarantee they go negative when i throw tools in.

Are these stiffeners to keep the top of the bed rails from sinking down or something else?

does anyone know what causes this problem? would bed bars/rack help the problem or make it worse?

I put a cap that had a side tool box, rack on the cap, so there was a lot of weight on the rail. Essentiall in the pics you can see the rails are kinda pulling apart

The stiffeners help bring everything together to keep it square. They are gusseted to the max and look pretty beefy from the total chaos website. Haven't got mine but that's the hope, squaring shit up.

As for bed bars, I don't think they would do much either. The cap I have is pretty solid and the weight still split the bed. If you load bed bars, the same thing will happen in my honest opinion.

They will fix this for sure. And like Crom said, they are very well finished and save time. For some those things are really important, especially time.

For me it would simply be difficult building them off my bed since my bed is not longer square. Don't know what normal is. For the price and quality that they are, they are perfect for me. Looking forward to getting them.

I didn't have the problem when it was just my bed bars and RTT. Now I have the shell and RTT and I can barely get my tailgate to latch when closed. I have to slam it as hard as I can. I'll ordering a set asap.
