The only prep I did was scuffing the surface and wiping it all down with a few alcohol wipes. Then just the black paint and clear coat.

I know I'm late but, I painted mine with the self etching primer, then a few layers of rusteolum Bed liner and then a clear coat.

I've rubbed trees with mine and it fine. Only thing that's got me is tree sap...

Take a look here before you drop that hard earned dough !!!

    https://www.treadwright.com/

I got them on my taco and these are the AT's They were $122. a piece:yes:. Watch the video.

I got mine of Ebay. They were considered "blemished" but you would never know where or how. They are an actual BFG tread pattern too.:bananadance:

Tree sap loosens up and comes off with isopropyl alcohol really well and it shouldn't harm your bed liner or clear coat if you rinse after

Got it painted but the paint took forever to dry to the point I could handle it so I'll have to do it tomorrow. Also Gotta straighten out my frame somehow cuz it got bent by the tow hook thing, that'll be a chore

The real BFG K02 are only 180 a piece. So 200 more for a brand new tire with warranty. If I had a dedicated trail rig I'd go treadwrights but I wouldn't trust them as a daily driver. The reviews seem to be good but also some bad ones of the tread completely coming off. I'll stick with the real tire instead of fake.

One of many Treadwright tires going bad.

I'm not a fan of the Treadwrights either. Buddy of mine runs them on his Jeep Wrangler and they are absolute trash, there's air bubbles in the tread blocks, you cannot balance them for shit, and because they don't balance well they tend to cup and then you are throwing them out because they are essentially too far out of round. All of their tread patterns they offer are "borrowed" from the real tire companies. For what it's worth my buddy was running what was basically a Goodyear MTR tread pattern that Treadwright had put back on BFG KO originals. I will say that he has yet to have one with self ejecting treads like some others have.

That was the old ones that were just caps. The new ones are bead to bead all new rubber in one application just like is done for the brand spanking new tire. My rig is an every day driver with the wardens on it!! Love them and I play rough with them! Keep in mind this can happen to any tire as well if not install properly or maintained. Just ask all those Ford Explorer folks that tore their Explorers up when the tires were coming apart from a reputable tire maker and brand new.

I dont think big chain tires shops will even mount retreads for liability reasons....
