You are right, and I think they can know when the fluid is way too low, or way too high.

Im almost positive mine did the same thing when I brought it in to be checked - hooked it up to tech stream. Because during the same warranty check they said they couldn't hit the zerks because I had put some kind of black paint on them. (That was paint from the factory). Now that I think about it. Let me confirm on the hood sticker that they even did the shifting TSB.

Called my local dealership and made an appointment to get the ATF level checked. No questions asked. Made appointment for tomorrow and the tech said it would take about an hour and a half.

It takes at least 4 hours to cool enough to do a proper check, so...

Does it really? Should I mention that to them when I go in tomorrow?

Had them check it and ensure it was updated to the most recent software. It was all good.

The actual check took me about 30 minutes to do myself.
1.5 hours sounds like a test drive and Techstream check; not enough time to do a proper check.

Think I'm going to have to clarify that I want it physically checked and not through techstream. Hopefully they'll still do it without any issues. Someone suggested that you take the pdf on how to do it properly to the apppintment. Anyone have a link to that pdf?

Good idea! Might have to do that every time it gets serviced!

Did you try CC? I've noticed issues with the up shifting. I have a video of the dash but can't seem to upload through my phone. 1300miles

I have not. I have around 55 miles on the truck so far, very little highway driving but I haven't tried CC. What speed?

It's happened quite a few times when the CC is set at around 70mph. My phone recording shows it at set at 73mph (i know odd number). It upshifted to 72mph and hit 4700-4800rpms and stayed that way for 16 second till it hit 73mph.

Just thought I'd update this thread. It wasn't very hard to convince the dealer to check before I took delivery. It also helped that they had the truck for a couple days after I actually signed all the paperwork. Hopefully my attachment will work.

If you weren't hauling or towing, or driving up a hill, That's crazy. Call Toyota customer service and open up a case.

That's what I said! 90,000 is a ridiculous amount of not even changing let alone checking the fluid. Crazy service advisor....

Had my ATF level checked yesterday at Toyota and they claim it was normal. Didn't watch them do it, but I grilled the tech on the procedure. Will never know for sure, but so far no symptoms. Love this truck.
