Please move if this is not in the right area.

    I have a 2011 4x4 Tacoma with a 2in leveling kit.
I have it at the shop now having that pulled off and adjustable 5100s on all 4 corners.
(now how to explain this so it makes sense)

the fronts did not come with a bushing, when the old shock/strut was taken off and then the leveling puck removed there was no bushing to mount the new shock/strut with.
so he is leaving the leveling puck on and mounting the 5100s to it. instead of putting the front 5100s at 2.5 lift, we are putting them on the 2nd from the bottom clip ( i believe an inch lift)
with the lift on the 5100s and the 2inch puch that will be 3 inch in the front which is what i want for the 33s to clear.

(i get the truck will now be off level by about an inch taller in the front than the back but i'm ok with that... for now)

now my question... is that a bad idea? should this only be a short term set up? or am i OK to leave it like it is?

With the shocking being able to adjust to 2.5 inches; my thought is it will be fine, but who knows.

picking the truck up soon and here is what ended up happening; with having to keep the 2inch puck in there, the 5100s had to be kept at the lowest (stock ride height) setting to use the stock control arms.

i don't feel like that's right, the leveling puck should have been taken out and the 5100s set to 2.5 inch?

has anyone gone from a leveling kit to shocks/struts that will lift the truck?
i have a sinking feeling this is going to end up breaking something else in the long run.

All these are re-usable from your original assembly. He's full of crap. All you are doing is replacing the shock in this assembly. Can you provide a picture of your current set up?

For 100$ I had wheelers off road build my front springs/ shocks. For hundred bucks I knew it was done right with all new parts the first time.
After that, the hardest part was removing the 6 lug nuts that held the tire on.

The spacer is just bolted the top hat. It should come right off. Unless I am seeing it wrong. The tophat must be present if the bolts are on the bottom half of the spacer. Here is my old set up with the spacer.

I think the guy I took it to isn't good with newer vehicles, he was great with my 03 Dakota. He could always keep it running, but I think he's more of a get it done rather than a done right, if that made sense.

I think I'm going to order a new top hat kit and have it taken apart again.

I don't like the idea of messing with that spring and it will have to be re-alined anyway.

Bringing this topic back for a second round..

Talked to Toyota, they will remove the puck and put the 5100s at the 2.5 lift setting for me for $200.00

i just have to find the right top hat, i'm assuming i can order a stock one right?
do they make a kit that has everything in it?

i'm taking her in to Toyota in a week or 2 to have the leveling spacer removed and the 5100s adjusted; what setting do i need to put this on to level the truck?

i'm currently running KO2s (32s) and one the stock (recall) leafs in the back.

if i go to the full 2.5 setting will the truck be taller in the front? if i go to the 1.75 setting will it be level but rub the 32s?

    thanks in advance.

This is what she looks like now.. While sitting on the 5100s at 0 and a 2inch leveling spacer

    And....

Lvl8 mk6 17s installed and KO2 (32s) and front window tint made darker to match the back windows.

i have mine at the 1.85 setting up front on stock coils and added 1" block in back sits plumb level. I might go 1.5 block or aal to keep it from bro leaning when hauling my dirtbike in the future. Ride is good, not harsh at all.

hahaha nope, i knew exactly what you meant by Bro lean.

    so 1.85 level
2.5 (with no rear lift) = bro lean.
