    Glad to hear it.

I always figure for every deal that's too good to be expected, some other poor bastard gets totally screwed to keep everything in balance.

Power Toyota tried this with me back in '08.

The whole deal was to try and get my truck back for less and try to get me into an '09. Granted they offered 0% apr, but I only had possession of the '08 for 8 months and was going to loose over 10G's!!!!

Or the salesman found a real sucker to take to the cleaners to get the customer in the truck that he wants.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
I'd call them back and tell them sure, you'd be happy to sell it to them... for current used RETAIL plus the new truck of your choice for $500 over invoice. I bet you find out that they aren't THAT interested.

Typical car dealer BS. Many dealers pay companies to mine their customer data, and give them a list of people that are close to breakeven in their loan. That's usually 3 years in. Because Tacoma's hold their value well, or if you put some money down, that may be now. Or, they just printed off a list of names and gave it to a new guy to call. It's just a sales pitch to get you in there and get you excited about a new car. There are some good dealerships out there, but not many. Now that most dealerships are corporate owned, the personal service is gone. I worked in dealerships for almost 15 years. I know what strippers must feel like after a shift.

Couldn't have been that bad if you hung around that long.

It doesn't take 15 years to find a new job. Does it?

I get that every time the dealer looks at my truck. It's a sales pitch to get you to buy a new truck. Don't fall for it. After dropping off my truck I get 3 phone calls. 1) Service manager with the estimates and permission to do the work. 2) Sales guy in the "red plaid jacket" and Brylcream telling me my truck is nice and someone wants it. They can get me into a new one today. 3) My truck is finished and come pick it up.

This is one of the reasons I do as much work myself as possible and why it rarely sees a dealer. My last sales pitch was when it was in for the rear leaf spring recall and has to order the parts and then again 3 weeks later when they installed them.

Happens to my friend every time she takes her Highlander into the dealership in Seattle. Someone supposedly wants to buy her car.

This is the best quote I read regarding dealer's sales tactics:

"Don't let someone else make the decision that it's time to sell your car."

If my dealership offered me a deal like this, and I could test drive the new truck for two weeks before buying (as a part of the deal), then I would do it in a heartbeat. Especially at 0% apr and assuming I wouldn't lose more than $2k-3k on the deal. Getting a truck that doesn't have problems would be worth $2-3k at this point.

Plus I would go LB and get the premium tech package.
