I am getting my Stage 3s and UCAs installed this weekend, and I am trying to decide on wheel/tire combo.

Im leaning towards the Duratracs 265/75/16s (I know ppl either love them or hate them) but I also REALLY like the TRD pro 17in wheels that can be found on ebay etc.

I wanted to avoid buying new wheels at this stage of the game, but Im looking to see if anyone has Duratracs on the 3rd gen with OEM 16in wheels.

    Pics? Thoughts etc?

    Thanks!

I am also considering that tire on my stock 16" rims at the c rating.

I was. I read and read for 3 months and finally decided to go with the Falken Wildpeak A/T3 W's. Love them so far. You might give those a look.

They definitely seem to be the most aggressive A/T Tire on the market from what I have seen.

Check out my build in the signature below. You can see lots of photos with 265 75s on the stock rims.

I use to have the duratracs, load c. Absolutely hated them. Now have falkens wildpeaks. Quality is way better than the duratrac.

What did you hate about them? Why do you like the wild peaks that much better? Thanks for your input.

Thanks! It's not done yet. High clearance rear bumper with tire swing out is next.

When they were new they were decent tires. Handled wet roads and snow well. Once they were at about 20k miles (they will last about 60k but have no warranty) they went down hill quickly. They always had vibration issues from the get go, which in the beginning I was fine with. Wet traction completely dissapeared. On a wet hill I needed 4wd to move. Twisty wet roads was like driving in the snow with bald tires. Vibrations got worse. They become extremely noisy. Others have said they had a good experience. I would have to say its bad quality control to have such extreme different experiences.

The falkens are much more quiet and balance better. Handle wet roads very well. They come with a 60k warranty. You can get them in a lower load rating. I got the light truck rating, I think its called P rating. They feel much more nimble at highway speed. The duratracs dont feel quite as confident.

I love how these 265/70/16 duratracs look on my stock OR wheels. Only pic with them clean so far

I have 17's on my truck. Don't know why the difference, but I love then. No lift, can't resell truck with a lift where I live. But I went 245/75 and they are awesome. Little bit louder, but you get used to it quick. They are awesome tires. You won't regret them

Yea checked out your build, really like what you are doing. Crazy the issues you went through trying to get your bed rack sent etc hah.

Tires look great on the OEM wheels though. I prefer the taller, skinny look to the wheel spaced, bloated look. Maybe its because most of the trucks you see on the road with big tires/wheels rarely see the dirt.

I have 265/75/16 c load on the stock wheels and have had them for about 1000 miles. I have a balance issue where I get light vibrations around 40 mph and after 70 mph. I am going to have the dealer road force balance them once I get a chance, for now it's a little annoying. I aired them down to 30 psi and that helped a bit with the vibrations and gave a little smoother ride. Overall driving characteristics are good besides this, good traction and wet road behavior. The composition of the tire is surprisingly soft and spongy, kind of like a soft snow tire tread. Maybe that's a reason they are hard to balance. Unfortunately if you want a 265 75 16 in a c or p load these are just about the only option for an aggressive looking tire. I guess another option would be the falkens but the tread depth is reduced for the p rated version. If I get the balance issues sorted out I would suggest them, it's really not that bad I just expect my new truck to ride perfect.P9110028.jpg
