Did you read anything I said? I am stating that leasing is no barometer of the state of our economy.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Yea not a good combination when you have more complicated equipment, but decreasing quality.

They ran tv commercials in the Portland, OR market like crazy. Couple examples...

Now I'm really glad I choose the lease. I hope it isn't all Phoenix area Tacoma's that are smitty99 versions :D

I actually do enjoy my truck, and most of my comments like this are in jest anyway. I do feel bad for smitty99 though. He is either very vocal, or got the worst truck ever (or both).

Good for you. My comment has more to do with why we are seeing more leasing as of late and vehicle values compared to what people are making is definitely a factor. Debt loading should be slowing car sales down but in reality they are even higher now per person than before the last crash and encouraging leasing is a tool to keep that momentum going.

For things like this truck, while I can't speak for the advertising, it could also be because after research, while I hope the truck meets Toyota's reputation for quality, I do have reservations that it will not. Information like this is more available (and more prominent because people with problems are more vocal) and that can lead people to being uncertain and looking for easy options out like me. After my numbers it doesn't hurt me too much to do it this way, and easier than possible losses if the truck is among the bad ones.

The assumption that just because they increase production that quality will automatically go down is not necessarily correct. It's a numbers game....that if you produce more of something there is an increased risk that an acute defect (loose bolt, wrong part) occasionally getting out the door. But that does not indicate that the overall quality of an entire product line will suffer. This is the case for any mass produce product.

A lot of cynicism floating around. :notsure:

You will find issues with EVERY truck you buy. F150, Colorados, Ridgelines, and yes even Tacomas.
If you think every other vehicle is defect free I have news for you.

I think all vehicles should be sold with a 30 day money back guaranty or warranty repairs at your option if any manufacturer defects are found within that time, not to include rock chips or other damage.
That would definitely give auto makers an incentive to improve their product quality and it could separate the lemons from the lemonade.

    But that's just me!

    Cheers!

    Same as everybody else...
I'm in Southern Maryland so I guess we're considered DC Metro. I've seen plenty of commercials on TV promoting the Tacoma but it's only recently that I've seen Toyota promoting leasing them. Maybe it's not a good market for leasing, I dunno, but everything is pricey here anyway.

Whut? So Toyota supposedly designs and markets a truck for its offloading powess and then says you have to do special maintenance of you off road with it?

Dear God, you can't make this shit up anymore....

Toyota has now officially become a joke. This is GMC, Ford and Chrysler levels of stupidity.

They are likely simplifying the San Antonio plant. Building two different trucks literally on the same assembly line is a logistical nightmare. Every part has to have a supply chain and a delivery chain and someone trained to install it properly. It's organized chaos. Simplifying the line allows them to specialize the line and pump out more tundras ....if you demand an assembled in America truck then buy a tundra I guess.

That is no longer true, they pride themselves on producing mixed models. When Toyota cannot keep up with Camry production they let Subaru build them in Indiana if memory serves me.

They did, but production at SIA ended in June. It's 100% at the 2 Kentucky plants now.
