Did my 5K service today and asked the service adviser about the new leafs. He didn't know what I was talking about and hadn't heard anything....

I go to the parts counter and ask to search the new leafs part numbers, and the parts guy says they're available now for special order from San Fran or New York. Vehicles listed for these leafs....2016 and 2017 Tacoma...

How do I get them to install these if they don't even know, or should I just wait for official TSB.

How are there "new" leafs for the 2017's when they barely started building them?

Not necessarily, they most likely will release one (sounds like they are aware of a manufacturing defect with the '16 leaf springs), but only when a customer brings it in specifically for this, and the technician can replicate the problem (not always but known to happen).

    At the same time?
Wondering if it's the stiffer leaf pack(less axle wrap) or pinion angle that helped you more...
    Single AAL or progressive?
I'm more inclined to say it is the stiffer leaf pack...

I have the Boss lift. Came with the AAL and 3 degree shims for drive line vibration. Cured the braking vibration after the lift. That's all I know.

I finally got to drop my truck off today to get this work done. I should be picking it up tomorrow or Thursday. I will post on how it comes out.

Damper did nothing for the vibrations in the steering wheel. The leafs "helped" but did not fix the vibrations between 30-20 mph and when braking.

Damn....How much of an improvement did you feel? Did the dealers mention anything about the leafs adjusting the pinion angles? Thanks

That's what the leafs are "designed" to do. Yes, the dealer also said that. They helped but did not fix the problem. We shouldn't settle for a half ass fix. And I'm not! I'm taking this all the way to court if I have to. 20 days now my truck has been at the dealer. Totally unacceptable. They have me driving a damn Camry

You had the shudder while braking? If so,the leaf spring kit did nothing for this?

I have picked up my truck today for the second time pertaining to this issue. The leaf spring kit/steering wheel damper was installed over a week ago. There was noticeable improvement but the shudder is still there. They agree that the issue is still there.I brought the truck in again this week so they could investigate a little further but Toyota told the dealer there is nothing else to do at this time. They used the Toyota favorite word, it is "characteristic" of the truck. The tech drove two brand new Tacomas off the lot and said they were worse than mine! So I have 37K truck that shudders and Toyota seems to not give a flying monkey shit about it. I still have no idea why a steering wheel damper was installed. I do have the buzz at certain RPM's but it is not something I have ever complained about. If the steering wheel damper was meant for that issue than it did not resolve the issue because I still have the buzz.

Pretty Fd up that brand new ones on the lot still have this problem and Toyota can't fix it yet continues to sell junk.
