    Curious for future reference, but does anyone here in SoCal know of a shop that will rebuild the TRD supercharger? Or will I likely have to ship it out when that time comes?

    Not looking forward to having to do that since this is my only mode of transportation, and without the s/c on it I'll be without my truck until it gets shipped back.

    Contact the high speed lab. They rebuilt my entire supercharger.

    But yes I had to ship it

    Thanks for the recommendations, I don't need to rebuild anytime soon (hopefully) as it's only got 34k miles on it, that I'm aware of anyhow. But just wanted to be prepared for the process when that time comes. Rental car it will be I guess, lol.

    I've heard they're good anywhere from 90k - 150k, probably depending on how hard you are on it. I'm actually really easy on mine lol. Rarely push it over 3200 rpms.

    Mine was literally destroyed and was still pushing 8psi lol

    I'm guessing it had 200k plus on it

    I saw another thread on how to DIY s/c rebuild but it looked pretty far out of my league.

    I only sorta understand how the bypass valve works. All I know is that with the similar equipped rigs that were n/a on the trail, gas lights were on and I had over half a tank. We all filled up at the same gas station. One guy ran out and we siphoned gas outta my tank into his.

    damn, must have been a long trail. I always fill up before a trail and never use more than a 1/4 tank on average for a 4 or 5 hour ride.

    I always use octane additive before a run too (on top of a 91 octane fill up), seems to help some.

    Long trail yes, 3 days long and ~37 hours of driving. Everyone including myself brought 5 gallons extra too and used it all up.

    all u need to know is......... low load= no boost.
    no boost= fraction of 1hp used to run blower.
    less hp used to run blower= better mpg.

    load also does not = rpm alone
    I can climb a VERY large grade at 75mph, in 3rd pulling a vacuum on the gauge
    gear selection helps manipulate boost

    I'm honestly super happy with the way I rebuilt mine, runs really good for a near 200k mile engine. Having not really touched anything on the engine myself it was a bit intimidating opening up a heaping death machine myself.

    On the plus side I saved money on a rebuild, shipping it, and worrying about shipping damage. Once you open it up there's no going back and you got to finish the job. I have the full confidence in rebuilding it again whenever need be.
