Sand in the tank, headlights, or electrical issues, the saga continues for the 4th time? (10/9/18)

If water got into the ballast, I would assume the lights would malfunction, and the ballast would fry. I believe the issue is the plugs shorting out.

At this point who knows, but TRS wasn't much help.and didn't even offer to replace anything.

 

How do you figure. He's the one who added and aftermarket component to his truck.

 

I am really disappointed in trs, you called them out several times in here, they never respond, and you say they did literally nothing to help you, maybe that guy saying lawsuit time is actually talking about trs?

Popped open a ballast, got nothing else to loose and TRS hasn't been a lick of help customer service wise, at this point.


These ballasts are sealed completely.

The plug is part of the housing and not clamshelled. The only way water is getting into the internals on this thing is through the terminals on the plug, MAYBE.

I will add silicone for fun, and dialectic grease, and shrink wrap. But I have more faith that it's a harness problem not a ballast issue

 

It's likely a magnetic current induction issue. And not a physical wiring problem

If you do all that it might get to hot. Then another problem maybe

Yep! From driving in salt water. Probably what all his factory connectors and wiring look like too

OEM lights work just fine for this truck. Why anyone would want to go spend good money to take the risk they'll fuck up the electrical system and void warranties with some aftermarket add on to get "brighter lights" is beyond me. To each their own of course but if you're assessing risk on an already problematic new generation (first year of new model gen), I don't see how the consequence and likelihood result in a favorable result for modifying the truck so early.

 

None of my factory connections look like that, I've checked almost everyone I can get my hands on.

That white stuff is actually the light colored dust from the volcanic badlands I just drove through, mixed with water from the wash, of course. It is on the outside of the ballast, there is a lip on the inside and nothing beyond that. The black sealant on the inside has no signs of water or reminents of water, etc.
