It is not a plans at this point so much as an idea to investigate. Sorry to be so coy, but it could turn into something...uh...sellable? Maybe? Sadly, I think it will be a while.

I'm starting to try to get out in the garage and do a little something almost every night, even if it is just cleaning up the mess from the last night, or prepping stuff for the next night. Sadly again, sometimes it is just taking pics of no longer needed/outgrown baby junk so I can put it on craigslist BECAUSE I NEED IT THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!

But last week it was packgin my tools and gear for the Reno air races to crew for an old team and...build some relationships.
    ROTARY phones, you imbecile!

One trick I have heard of (after doing mine by bending sheet metal of course) is to remove the radiator mount bushing bolts and lever the whole front clip slightly side to side to remove the UCA bolts.

Holy shit. But I like it. The whole endeavor def seems like a two man job, just to have at least a third hand.

Did you put your bolts in the same way as OEM, or from the back?

I have no idea if this 2015 is laid out any differently than earlier models, but on the pass side front, and AC line runs just inboard of the pass wheel well, right next to the sheet metal edge, and a coiled brake line is piled up to the rear. That side seems like easiest access to work, but worst bolt interference.
Driver side is harder to access the front of the bolt, and it seems to be aimed dead center on the sheet metal.

It was a Toyota tech that told me about it. Says that's the way it's always done. Most customers would be pissed if you bent up their sheet metal.
I don't remember which was which but I think I put one back in backwards because it was easier. The other had to go back in the normal way because brake lines were very much in the way.

Put them back in the way you take them out. I had one of the nuts work loose. Had the bolt been in backwards and the nut fell off the bolt can slide that direction. Don't know if it could come all the way out or not but it can come out far enough to not be through one side of the UCA, disaster then strikes. Mine had backed off about a half inch and I heard a noise on the passenger side heading to Toyota to get oil changed. They came and got me told me to look at something. They grabbed the front passenger wheel and it moved around a lot. Said I may need a wheel bearing. I asked them to move it again while I looked at something. Sure enough saw the UCA move and noticed the nut backed off. Everything was properly torqued and checked at 500 and 1000 miles after install. Keep and eye on them and put the bolts back in OEM way so gravity is your friend with the bolt head holding the bolt in if the nut comes loose.

@Crom if I'm not mistaken, you've swapped out UCAs twice. Observations? Tips?

I did find it humorous that I diagnosed my own problem correctly at the dealership. o_O

Chad's Pride likes me liking this. That's what I've been too busy to even look up yet. I know that sounds lame, but trust me, between work insanity, some pretty intense family business in the Bay Area over the last couple months, and the wee lad...I can hardly find time to relax for my morning dump.
