They only fixed the R to D delay because that's all s/w could do.

Wonky trans persists. Toyota should've geared it to compensate for the EPA lame ass requirements. Big fail.

Ford and Nissan will be the benefactors of the major misstep.

Only got my 2016 three weeks ago but noticed something didn't feel quite right, had the upshift issue on cruise, and noticed a delay from R to D , had to explain to my dealer what the problem was and show them the TSB that was posted here . Shifting does feel smoother and no more delay from R to D , will take her out on the highway tomorrow to test the upshift on cruise

Had mine done during my 10K service. Highway performance is a lot better in my opinion, meaning I can now use cruise control. Still averaging 22-24 mpg depending on what I'm doing. Really haven't seen less than that at all. Actually impressed with how the truck feels now, except that when the truck is cold I still sort of feel the hard upshift from 2-3. Anyone else still noticing it?

Yeah, got it done.. told them about it and they did it without trying to "replicate" the problem... Print a copy for them and then ask them if they will do it for you...make sure to tell them you have 1 or more of the issues that the TSB addresses...
    Good luck man..

Post up if that helps. I am still using ECT up to cruising speed and then cut it off. Still maintaining 20 mpg in all city driving so that works well for me. Mine reverted back to doing a 1-2 and 2-3 slide shift without ECT. It really truly has similar power to my old 2000 4 cylinder automatic Prerunner in the lower speeds. And that had oversized tires. Think it had a 390 rear axle. Actually the 2000 had better 0-35 performance than my 16 in drive without ECT. The only other issue I had was R-D and P-D hesitation which is still fixed. I have had several road trips including to the Blue Ridge twice and have no issues between 45 and 75 mph with cruise on as others had.

Sounds like you qualify... have you not noticed the tranny when in CC over a hill will downshift as normal then NOT upshift when over the hill... That was MY main issue...

I always thought that was just "engine braking" to keep the truck at the set CC speed going downhill.....guess i was wrong! It's fixed with the TSB.

Not sure what you are saying here...!! But this issue ONLY happens in CC... It will down shift for hill and then over the hill will refuse to go back up to 6th, without a push on the gas pedal...then it will shift...

Since my TSB.. I do not have this issue anymore... (of course, I filled the low tranny first)...

Hopefully someone can help me verify if I'm going insane or not. Had my TSB done about 2k miles ago. Difference was night and day. Loved the performance. I recently drove 8 hrs thru the Rocky Mountains to Lake Powell and it performed great (no ECT mode). On the way back I towed 2 jet skis home using ECT/S-Mode. Truck towed great but after removing the trailer and driving in regular mode again it felt pre TSB! Bad and very noticeable/sluggish performance. I reset my ECU via battery disconnnect and it feels back to post TSB (thank god). Could that really have helped that much!? anyone else have TSB symptoms wear off and then fixed again after disconnecting the battery?

supposedly disconnecting the battery erases whatever learning has happened and the TSB was a reprograming of the ECU which would not be reset by disconnecting battery......i think it makes sense.

Thanks for the response! just took it on another cruise and it seems better again. Maybe something about driving on ECT for an extended time messes with the ECU memory. Hopefully it holds up.

Anyone else get a lot of pushback when you asked them to flash your transmission?

Mine does the same thing with the AC on, when its at a running temp, the idle will flux between 500-900/1000 when the ac compressor kicks on and puts a "load" on the engine. I had them pull another truck next to mine to see if was doing the same thing... it was. I think its just a "normal" quirk for our truck. if they kept the idle at 900 we would prob only see a slight bump and return to normal when the compressor kicks on but its pretty drastic when its resting at 500.

Mine always does that with compressor engaged. It sounds strange. All vehicles surge and drop rpms when compressor runs but it is much more obvious in the Taco. I wonder if other model Toyotas have the same quirks with the 3.5. What bothers me is the clickity clack of the injector cleaning process. I thought I had a valve train problem the first few times I heard it.
