Dealership drove it and heard the diff howling. They wouldn't let me take it home. It's too loud. They lifted it on a hoist and ran it and it was even louder. Getting a new diff next week.

11000 miles. It's been doing it since 3 or 4000 miles. I thought it was the exhaust until I read about it on here. Toyota told them to change the diff oil but it didn't help. I was really mad because I called them and spoke to my advisor and he said yeah come pick it up. When he goes to get the keys, the service manager wouldn't give the keys up. I was really sad and mad. It wasn't going to blow up, but they couldn't take that chance. No one has had a rear diff blow up due to the howling. Some guy lost one while doing a donut in the desert and that's it. The howling seems common but this dealership is afraid of the liability, especially if I'm going on a long trip.

I don't know what I'll do now. QDR?

Sorry for the late reply.. been super busy with school work and putting my mid skid on an doing my tire straps. Actually didn't take those pics, I found them online so couldn't say if they plowed EVERYTHING. I would assume they plowed a lot though to get access to the fire :/

Yeah I finished up what I needed to today, namely adding some preload on driver side with a little more trimming. Want to test it out before Big Bear.

Just not as into the whole off road my new truck shenanigans. It's not practical for a DD at least not for me. I have more bills than I can keep up with. I would like to jump into a harley and this would be a nice down payment. And I'm thinking of going back to stock and trading the truck in for some cash. And I'd prefer to fly on a dirtbike. Every time I hit the Dez I have my dirtbike and the truck doesn't get used

 

At least there is sound reasoning behind it not just cuz lol

 

I wish I could! I definitely plan to buy used, but the money isnt there right now, unfortunately.
