So this is my build thread. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The goal of this truck is to be my daily driver as well as perform in the dirt and mud. I want a safe, reliable, fun rig that I can pile in the family and head out on an overland adventure, fishing trip, camping etc. Or meetup for day runs to wheel and BS around SoCAL.

While I appreciate, respect and admire those who cut and slash their rigs for extreme rock crawling, that isn't the idea for this truck. All mods will be made to avoid any cutting any part of the truck, thus voiding the warranty.

Listed is the current state as well as a "planned" section as time progresses.

    Installs

    Bed Rack

The kbvoodoo bed rack installation is pretty straight forward. So simple they don't even send instructions. After some close examination, I was worried the rack was a little too light on gauge of steel and hardware, but was assured by @KB Voodoo and a few others here on TW that it has been tested, tried and true to handle whatever is thrown at it.

So, armed with a socket set,a few wrenches, and some lock-tite, the entire thing came together in roughly 1hr or so.

Honestly so far it's great. I literally put it together, mounted it and loaded my gear them took it on a 2000+ mile trip through the mountains.

Did lots of diff terrain, bouncing, flexing etc. it had a 200lb RTT on it all week. I honestly checked it after every day of off-roading (I'm a worry wart) and it never flinched.

Got home and ran a socket over everything just to be sure, everything was tight.

Came home to this on my porch today after work :bananadance: Way early. I wasn't expecting it for another 2 weeks or so.

FYI Auto Anything has some pretty good prices. I got 15% off on this.

Just a heads up on SPOT 3, keep track of your subscription. I've heard a lot of stories that when its time to renew if you do not contact them they will auto renew and give you their most expensive package ($400)

Yea I was thrown a little by the sub they require of you but I tend to error on the side of caution with most things and decided to sign up.

It's fun to have friends and family follow you around on your adventures though, and I'm hoping to never have to use the rescue function hah

The basic subscription isn't bad. I had the same one till I got the delorm ireach.
Bit more money but you can get shorter subs and actual text.

I've heard many stories of people getting a 2 year sub with spot. Then after 2 years they automatically sign you up again but for their most expensive package

Yea man, its kind of like reading Yelp. There are always haters.

You just have to see for yourself.

There are little things about it that are....well different, but if I wanted the same I would have bought a Gen 2

    Nail it right there^
I wanted to get a newer 2 Gen 4x4 but now I'm going more and more for a 3rd Gen 4x4.... will see next year once I save a little more money for downpayment, interest rates down here in Mexico are crazy high! (10% interest for good credit, 13% for ok credit and 15-18% for bad credit history)

Another alignment today. I definitely recommend 2 alignments about a week apart with the stage 3s. Don't pay for two just take it back to the shop and tell them it's driving a bit strange or whatever. My toe and camber were almost 2 " off from the last time.

Also wash wax and some new decals. I know a lot of people hate the badges but I like a bit of chrome to break up the black on my truck. The chrome grill will be replaced at some point.

Yea mine should be arriving Friday too, or Monday at the latest.

Im sticking with the OEM 16in rims for now. I like the TRD 17in wheels, but I think Im gonna stick witht he 16in for the future. Cheaper tires, more flexibility in wheel well clearance.

Tranny TSB completed today. The dealer was surprisingly "aware" of the issue. They drove it, verified it, and fixed it.

It was my first time Carlsbad Toyota service, but I am impressed with them right out of the gate.

Truck drives totally different. Feels like a regular truck now. Crazy how one little ECU tweak can make your life so much better. Hah
