If this deal goes thru on a 97 landcruiser that I'm trying to buy I'm gonna be selling my black 2000 runner. No issues whatsoever, cold AC and all maintenance up to date including tb & wp. 190k miles. It was originally a Florida truck so no rust and you know me I don't drive my yotas in the winter unless the roads are dry.

Hmmm... So had some genius lock up thier brakes In front of me today because they missed thier turn, and the tacos brake performance was not confidence inspiring... Had a large 4 or 5 second gap and just barley stopped before I hit thier rear bumper, abs never kicked in and the wheels did not lock up.. Wtf? Pads and rotors still look good, and there's only a slight brake shimmy from the ceramic pad deposits on the rotors.. And they seemed okay when towing my cavalier last weekend.. Any ideas?

What did the trailer brakes do? If they worked really well without locking up then your truck wouldn't have locked up or abs kicking in.

Was not towing the trailer, just driving into work today. But the brakes seemed to work fine when towing my cavalier on Sunday

Nope, stopped about a foot short of thier rear bumper. Was on a narrow two lane road, only other choice besides rear ending them was in the woods or into oncoming traffic

Sounds like they did their job. Good tires and good breaks and the ABS shouldn't have to kick on. The brakes should just kick ass and stop you on a dime

I had a similar situation last month. But our bumpers did make contact. All it did was ruin ny TRD skid. She needed a whole bumper.

I hate how i'm at fualt for her stopping short. This is why i ride the motorcycle as much as i can. When people stop short i just pull off to the side of them so i don't get kersmashed

    They didn't.

Rears locked. Fronts chattered and ABS came on.

My rotors were pretty much shot because i'd left the last set of pads go to long and just threw another set of autozone's on. Lesson learned. Go big or go home with brakes. Its only money.

Totally changed my mind set about this truck. Fuck the money, i'm taking care of it and enjoying it. Because in the blink of an eye it could've been totaled.

Best mod for the buck was the tundra brake upgrade that i did to my runner & my taco. BIG improvement over stock.

I have a set of Bilstein rear shocks off a 2016 TRDOR with 2000 miles on them. Anyone local interested? $75 for the pair, I painted them black because I hated the yellow.

I believe 2nd Gens have larger brakes compared to the 1st Gen tacos & 3rd Gen runners.
