Saw some decent cars today, and ran into a coworker who's husband had a car in the show too.

Got my dual RV tank setup working today. Unfortunately, I need a welder to finish up my lights. Camper is coming along nicely, need to get some more storage compartments done but it's almost done, just in time to put it away for the winter...

I ran a red brillo pad over mine with some mineral spirits then sprayed it down with acetone to get any residue off. It wasn't perfect because it was fighting sunlight. Honest I just wanted to get the weld beads off from the welding process. Like @mach1man001 said I have touch up sprayed them 3-4 times now so I'm glad I didn't try harder.

Nice, since I got home I've been working on mine in prep of the maiden voyage next week. Got the battery cable all straightened out, the resetable fuse was toasted when they tried to charge the battery. I remade the table out of cabinet grade plywood since the particleboard one was all warped. I think I may eventually remake all the cabinets out of the ply since it's all kind of crappy particleboard anyway. We'll see how that goes  Would like to add a storage box for the in front of the camper but will have to move some things around. Maybe next season.:D

On another note, anyone looking for some badass lights? I have a set of Rigid Dually D2 hyperspots that I'm considering parting ways with. I bought them 'used'. The guy said he test fitted them but never ran them, based on their condition I would say that's accurate. They are in he original box and have the wiring harness with them. I did the same, I can't get them to fit where I want them so I'm seriously considering letting them go. Thinking $150 for the pair and the wiring harness, I could probably be persuaded to help you hook them up also :D. I have a set of them on the truck now so I can show you what they can do. These were going to be a second pair for obnoxious amounts of light but the mounting location isn't working how I want it.

Where are you located? You won't be disappointed in these, they are pretty impressive little lights, I've been happy with them. Narrow beam but damn they go a long ways!

Thanks, I went kind of later in the afternoon so a bunch of cars had already left but it was still pretty cool. I was there while they were announcing the winners and a few had already gone home, which I thought was sort of lame.
Have fun today, I'll be half-ass cleaning the house while watching the game.

Honestly the truck's too new (and I'm too much a perfectionist) to see somewhere that a rock could eat it, at least not right now.

I don't think I like it as much on the new truck as I do on the old one.

If no off roading, then I like the placement, looks good

I agree, I think it looked better on the access cab. It looks a little off with the crew cab and short bed. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it did look better on the old truck.

Would you tap the trailer harness or run a whole relay setup? I know (and it will bug me if I don't) the proper way is to run a new relay and wiring and grab battery power for it, but I am so tempted to pull the trailer wiring since it's right there and probably 99% of the time I drive the truck I won't have a trailer (I never towed a trailer with my old one).

I think that's the thing, it doesn't look as good with the crew cab. It also doesn't look as good IMO with the wimpy factory tires and stance. I think even if I had a set of BFG KO2s it would look better. The old truck looked a bit silly in winter before I had the ARB with my snow tire setup.

I would test the trailer wiring to make sure it's hot all the time. I'm pretty sure my Ford is only hot if it senses a trailer hooked up to it. Not sure how Toyota does it, I never had the factory tow package.

That said, I'd tap power from the battery, like you said, and use the rear tail light's reverse wire for the trigger. You could probably bury the relay behind whichever tail light you use. Not sure if you're intention is to have them come on every time you're in reverse or have a switch. That's how I'd run it, find a harness going from front to back, wire loom the new wires and tie them to an existing harness.

I know it's the "right" way to do things, I just don't have any spare relays, etc running around to use. Trying to convince myself not to be lazy. Plus, once I FF the truck, it's a mess to work with. I am running low on funds at the moment for modding and my list is growing exponentially.

If your tow harness is always hot, go for it. I certainly wouldn't call it the wrong way to do things. That's a fuse protected wire with the sole purpose to power additional reverse lights. I was just throwing it out there to test it first.
