I have the 2.7l extcab with a Snugtop bed cap. I went with OME881s, SPC light racing UCAs, Nitros all around, and Dakars with AAL. I don't have a steel bumper, but I generally have some weight in the back and at least 50lbs sitting on the hitch. The ride is fantastic, it's bouncy enough with the stiff shocks to really truck over uneven pavement/offroad surfaces. You won't be desert bounding like with a long travel setup, but it is an excellent expo/overland/weekend-warrior setup.

    Totally normal
:jellydance: still diggin' the pop-up. Seriously have been thinking of a 2nd truck just for this.
Any chance for a full side shot to see how much it hangs over the back?
Maybe full frontal too, of the truck :p, to see how much it hangs over the side as well.
    Thanks!

Got my kit put on today! 882's up front nitrocharger sports all around. I put a Deaver AAL in the rear and the bro lean was pretty bad. I ended up having to leave my 1.5 inch block back there to keep the truck level (small amount of forward rake). This is only temporary though. I'll be getting the Dakar pack for Christmas and an adjustable shackle set.

Did a diff drop kit as well and my cv's look really good. No boot rubbing. UCA'S look decent, a small amount of slope but not bad at all. Really happy with this lift and will be even happier once I get the dakars and get rid of that block. At least I got rid of the front spacers and stock front struts.

Sure man there are several pics on here in my media. Look up my albums and see if any of those work for ya. If not I will post more shots here. I will say the one they make for this bed is a bit bigger now but worth it. Mine can be purchased however....

Yeah, that's a hefty amount of lumber. You shoulda seen the guy's face when we were drivin back with it and I told him it was a 4cyl. Went over some pretty jank parking lot surfaces, 30miles of freeway, and another 10 miles off road without really noticing much other than a little sluggishness. I've got Cooper St maxx 255/85/16s on stock steelies. UCAs were to allow for better geometry due to both taller tires and the couple inches of lift from the OME.

Damn that sounds great. I'm actually thinkin im gonna go with 235/85/16 instead of 265/75/16. I like that pizza cutter look and from the studies ive been reading traction is great, especially on snowy roads.

    Plus they a tad cheaper.

NICE! Yeah, in hindsight I totally wish that I'd gone with 235/85/16 but now that I have the tire rebates I'll probably keep these tires forever, because $$$!

I have a 03 2.7L with a custom front plate bumper that weighs about 100lbs. I want to keep a 3" lift, will 882's help me stay at 3"? Wheeler's site says V6 models with bumper will be approximately 2.25"-2.5" of lift. or should i just stick with 881's with the plate spacer? I plan on building sliders and rear plate bumper. Sorry if this question was asked before but there's over 2,000 messages in this thread. Thanks in advance

Without trying it out on your truck, there is no answer. Not being smart, there just isn't a way to tell you if a particular spring+spacer+bumper combo will have your truck sitting at exactly 3".

What kind of grease is everyone using for their Dakar bushings?

    Hey everybody!

Just made an account here on TW, and after marathoning through more than half of this thread, I do have an idea of what I want for an OME setup, I guess I just need a little reinforcement if it is the right setup. The truck is an 01 extended cab V6 5 speed with the TRD package. When loading the bed up several weeks ago I noticed how my tacoma didn't seem to have nearly the payload that my old 94 pickup had. The leaves are definitely worn out, and after 180xxx I'm sure the front is just as bad. I would really like to keep the truck as close to stock as possible, no more than 2 inches of lift in the front just to keep the cv's happy (maybe a diff drop if it is a good idea) and give me a little peace of mind. I wouldn't mind a little rake, my old truck had a decent rake and I kind of liked it. I was thinking OME 881's with the Nitrocharger sports up front and the dakar pack in the back (also with the nitrocharger sports). My problem is that I am just having a hard time deciding on the AAL. I do have a cap, but it is aluminum, and I have a box in the back, so I regularly carry about 70-100 pounds, nothing serious. However, when I load the truck (either firewood, stone, snowmobiles etc.) I want the capability to be able to throw at least 1000 pounds in the back and not have to worry about it being over loaded. If I put the AAL in, I want to do it when I put the springs in initially, not after putting the truck together and realizing I should have done it in the first place. I am worried that I may get too much rake with the AAL, but hopefully someone can give me some first hand experience on this. It seems to be that the truck would sit great without it, but I just keep reading about how wimpy the dakar's can be and I definitely want to be able to work the truck.

I use moly grease, the grey stuff.

Is there a lot of sentiment that dakars are wimpy?

Just trying to get some input since I'm out in Guam and it's not like I can drive to another state for parts. What would be recommended then for a 2.7L extended cab?

There really is no way to tell. For instance in my double cab V6 my 882s have given me 3 inches right at install but after they settle I will be around 2.5 to 2.75 inches. Some people have gotten close to 3.5 inches in the same body style truck
