Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
2017 here, I got it done Thursday. My VIN matched the T-SB-0077-16 and they flashed it no issues. It doesn't do the shift delay when the engine / fluid is cold in the morning. I'm pretty sure I'll lose a little bit of MPG because it's shifts a few hundred RPM higher into the range (my driving it is shifting around 2400 - 2500 instead of 2100 rpm it was doing.

Doesn't really feel more powerful, or smoother shifting (I felt it already shifted pretty smooth), but cleaned up my delayed engage to Drive and also my cruise doesn't hold on to 4th gear for like 45 seconds, it shifts back down right away.

Ironically dealer is about 30 miles away, I averaged 18.7 on the way to the dealership and about 18.9 on the way. The difference could be accounted for by a headwind...basically a wash.

Did it change the feel of my truck completely? Not really, but I was annoyed that one time it was a smooth 2 seconds before it went into drive so I had it done.

I got a first run of 2017, and I'm willing to bet had a 2016 leftover ECM in it, which is why mine was on the TSB VIN list.

    Hope this helps.

Well I could be wrong but how do you know!?

If someone could confirm with some proof that'd be sweet.

I know because I am good friends with the northwest quality champion for Toyota, the same guy who updated my 2017 after confirming my suspicion that they did not have the update previously installed. It took him about 2 seconds to confirm I was without the update.

I do recall talk in the TSB threads several weeks ago that it's come standard on 2017s. But who knows. I'm probably wrong.
It appears The TSB technically is only for 2016s despite VIN

Whether or not the TSB currently, or yet to, includes the 2017 is unclear. That attachment you included is dated July, before the 2017 was released.

The TSB was released technically before the 2017's were marketed and available. So that's why it doesn't say 2016 on the sheet. The deciding factor currently should be the vin. Which there are 2017's with those vin codes

Maybe Toyota doesn't want to discriminate against all of the 2016 tacoma buyers and are going to make the 2017 tacoma owners wait the same amount of time that the 16 owners had to wait for their TSB.

I know for a fact mine didn't have the tsb preloaded on it. Had it done the other day and it's drives like a different Truck now.

Never trust a guy who has an "inside" guy, and can't list his source.

I work at a dealership and this is usually how it goes. I'm speaking from experience. Now while I can usually say that it shouldn't take that long to switch software over from the production line there are possibly a few reasons why it took them so long. Perhaps even a slight possibility they still haven't changed it over. It's Toyota and we may never know

It's been 4 days now, and more specifically 4 mornings. It's not yet given me trouble with shifting from R > D or P > D while cold (tried both). Mine is a 2017, VIN match, flash done. Absolutely not placebo effect. Feel free to doubt it, but the early runs of 2017 (I got mine the week the 2017's hit dealers) didn't have it done. I do have the 40mph whistle but I kinda grin when I hear it so I'm gonna not TSB that for now.

Did you have any trouble getting the dealer to perform the TSB? Did they require you to show them the shift delay before they performed the TSB? I'm wondering because I'm going to the dealer on Tuesday and the delay only occurs when the engine is cold/hasn't been driven for hours.

No trouble. Called them up, said I had a matching VIN and experienced the issues. She said that they would perform it if I described the symptoms, I told her delayed shift, cruise hanging. She scheduled me the very next day and it took about 30 minutes. Done. This was the 3rd dealership I called, however.
