Can SR5 be a TRD?

Suspension wise you can make it what you want and even better than a Baja or TRD Pro - just make sure to add the Sport Seats to the interior.

My opinion on the sport seats - these looks surprisingly similar to factory Supra seats, are nice and firm, make it feel like your driving something more than just a Tacoma.

They just changed up the badges. Another thing they changed, is my parking lights are the small orange ones on the top edge of the headlight. My blinkers are the large rectangul.

 

Saw one on the highway today. It was a pre 2014 2nd Gen.

My '08 TRD OR has SR5 badges too. This was standard pre 2010. TRD includes SR5 with the additional options specific to either the OR or sport.

 

My 09 has the SR5 badge so they must have stopped putting it on in '10

 

The newer gen 2 have electronic lsd, not mechanical. There is a Trac control button which turns the auto lsd on. Which is controlled through the brakes

 

my 08 TRD OffRoad 4x4 has the SR-5 badge. AFAIK, its just a trim and interior package, stuff like fog lights, step bumper, better-than-base seats (but not as nice as Limited), power windows+mirrors, rear window slider, etc.

 

It used to be this in accordance with price.

Every TRD is an sr5, but not every sr5 is a TRD? Sounds like something off an IQ test lol.

i have a base model with the convenience package so i have power locks and windows, but not mirrors. My dad has a Sr5 and the only differences ive found are color matched fender flares and power mirrors, as well as, a chrome grille and rear bumper.

 

pretty sure the exact options in a given trim level varies year by year, but I never have seen an authoritative list of this.

When a friend bought a 1984 Toyota truck new, the sr-5 option included cloth bucket seats with headrests and a 5-speed, whereas his base model had a vinyl bench seat and a 4-speed, 22R carb motor, etc. total stripped truck, hand crank windows, no radio, no a/c, nothing... I remember when they bought the truck, it had no bumper on it (the dealer wanted you to buy an upgrade bumper), so they raised hell that it wasn't street legal as-is, and the dealer slapped on a utility step bumper with a hitch (they didn't have any of the base bumpers on hand). they kept that truck until earlier this year, it finally had so much rust rot on the hood and rocker panels from the ocean air that it was becoming embarrassing. I don't think it ever got over 100k miles on it, it was almost exclusively used for errands around the Monterey Peninsula once or twice a week.

and in 08, TRD Off Road ("OC") included SR5 package 2 (SL) which included Convenience Package (CP). on top of that, mine has Tow. I also have the sport pedals, and TRD seat covers, which I think must have been a dealer or owner mod.

 

I bought my '08 brand new and the TRD seat covers were not available until a few years later due to the new side seat air bags. Must have been a previous owner mod.

My '13 TRD O/R doesn't have the SR5 badge, and nothing is different from how it was delivered from the factory.
