Tire size pic request

I'm looking for pix of a gen-2 4x2 with 15 inch rims...stock steelies or aftermarket...they just need to be 15's...who's running either a 235/70/15 or 225/75/15 tire.

I don't think you can fit 15's on a 2nd gen. They will rub the brake calipers.

The picture in my avatar is a 15" with a 235/70/15 snow tire on the truck. I'll see if I can find a bigger picture here in a bit.

Thanks for the pic. I don't want to go too big 'cause I want to keep the speedo and gearing realistic. A 225/75 will give me a bit more height than the 235/70...but the 235/70 will give me more width. Either way it'll be meatier than the 215/70 bike tires that are on it now.

If anyone else has pix of either of those sizes, don't be shy.

 

Good choice! I am trying to figure out if I want to got with the LTX, or the Latitude, on mine for summer. I am going to go with a 235/75/15 though, since it would be an easy size to source in an emergency.

 

Thanks for the pix fellas. The 235/75 is another size that I was considering...but it's a couple of inches bigger than the stock diameter. I just don't want blunt too much power with a tire that's too tall.

Hmm...not sure what I want to do. So many choices in that range.

215/75 = 27.7 inches
225/70 = 27.4 inches
225/75 = 28.3 inches
235/70 = 28.0 inches
235/75 = 28.9 inches

Decisions....decisions.

I was wondering whether you'd mounted any tires yet. Just kinda fyi I had 235/75's mounted on the stock rims and didn't have any rubbing issues and can't tell if there was really any power lost or not. I do know that little extra height really fills the wheel wells better and makes the truck look better.

 

Yeah...not mounted anything yet...and probably won't until the spring. I'm going to paint the wheels first, so I have to wait until things are a bit warmer around here to do that. Until then, I just need to decide what's a good tire size to go with.

Hey...feel free to post up some pix of those 235/75's....oh and those sweet new rims too. I saw Soft-8's on the box and was like....damn....me want.

dont know about the 1st gen but on the 2nd gen i dont really think so.

i have 255/55-18 on my taco and its fine havent noticed a power loss at all but my speedo is about 4.5mph to slow. at least thats what the cop said haha.

but either way i think 235/75-15 will look pretty damn good. good luck man

 

You might feel a little difference for the first week but I don't know that you could say it's a difference in power or just the way it sits and rides. If I did lose power it's not enough for me to remember or worry about. My cousin has 33*12.5's with stock gearing in his 95 pickup with a 4 banger in it and it still has plenty of power.
