so basically I have a problem? So last weekend I went on a trail and I was driving the truck pretty hard and took a pretty good hit after hitting a hole pretty good. FYI I'm LT'ed in the front. And the truck shut off I looked at my friend and had that face of confusion. My first instinct was to look at the efi fuse and sure enough it was blown replaced it and truck started right up and so I kept going slowly started driving a little faster and I figured I'd see if it would do it again so I gave it some throttle over a bump to get the truck off the ground and take a decent hit and it did it again... So my question is has anyone had this problem? Is it common? Safety feature of the truck thinking it got in a accident? How would I trace the short? I have no clue what I would need to look for.

    Truck is a 97 3.4l 4x4

Is the battery strapped down good?

It's the stock strap but why would that be part of only the efi blowing?

If the battery is bouncing up, and shorting on the hood, it could cause a short.

I've had an experience with this, plus knowledge of the circuit.

The EFI fuse has two primary functions, powering the EFI relay and Power the ECM. The EFI relay is responsible for supplying power to the fuel pump, evap purge valve and vent valve, MAF, IAC, EGR, DLC, and both 02 sensors.

Out of those items, the most sensitive to a jounce is easily the O2 sensor, if they ground out, they blow the EFI fuse. Inspect them for damage from offroading, the rear 2 are often cut and hang and ground out on the exhaust.

You need more hang time in your jumps

Just want to chime in today I finally had a chance to look around for the short and I FOUND IT!!!! My rear o2 sensor is frayed from rubbing on the heat shield and was touching it when the exhaust moved a little from the hard impact thank you for all the info guys so glad I found it and it's so simple!!

Once that's fixed, are you gonna take over some sweet jumps to verify the repair?
