I have a 16 SR5 2wd. I would like a small lift 1.5-3 inches, Along with new tires and rims. We primarily use the truck once or twice per week towing a trailer. But we would like to build a desert style runner for those monsoon days when you have no idea what will be in the road. I would also like to add a rear locking diff. Now I need you to talk me out of it. Or help me decide what package/s will be best and how it will effect my towing.

Get some lift spindles and a nice set of full replacement leaf packs. You can add airbags or nice fancy coilovers down the road.

Same(ish) boat as you. Grab a set of TRDOR coils off the marketplace for like $150, slap 'em into your SR5. I used the tiny 1/4" toytec spacer to cheat and get a little extra height without actually invoking the wrath of the spacer gods.

For me that setup has been great, at a seriously kick ass budget price.

As far as the locker goes, you might want to look into a limited slip instead of a locker. Sounds like this is more of a DD than a wheeling truck and an LSD is more daily-driving friendly at the cost of maybe not being the best if you're truly getting yourself into situations where you're lifting a wheel clean off the ground. But if that were the case, you probably should have gotten the 4x4.

This truck actually serves no purpose except pulling my little trailer. That being said I would like to give it a purpose. Soon this truck will be my wifes and she will be flying through the desert i would like to make it as bullet proof as possible. As for the 4x4 if I were still living in Michigan I would have for sure bought 4x4. Living in Az taught me if you need 4x4 to get through its a good idea not to try. I think the locker is cheap and low maintenance insurance. I was looking at the OME setups they look pretty reasonable.

Since you have a 4x2, you can actually go with a 4" spindle lift. That's the biggest you can get with a 4x2 without having to worry about the problems people face who desire a 6".

Don't listen to 4x4 nonsense. You got the truck for YOUR needs and YOUR needs only. If you don't plan on going off road, or you live in a relatively flat area, a 4x2 is best. You easily save thousands of dollars not going 4x4. Like I said, you got the 4x2 because that accommodates your needs, so pay no mind to the ignorant.

I would probably recommend Camburg or MaxxTrac.

    A few things
Because they only make one size trailer? With the same amount of weight on it?

Growing up I had a younger brother that thought his 2 WD was a 4 WD, he always said I can take my 2 WD everywhere a 4 WD can go because he could drive better, I can`t count how many times I pulled him out of with my 4 WD, he didn't stop until I told him that`s it, don't call me at 3 am again to come pull you out.

    OP

Sorry, but you probably should've bought a 4WD.

    OME is Old Man Emu

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturing (such as OEM parts.
In this case OP was looking at aftermarket and that would be Old Man Emu, a company that has aftermarket suspension and such.

Just wanted to clarify cause it looked like there may some confusion there.
