Hell if he wants a Pro as a farm truck his old Ford must of been a King Ranch lol.

Shit I'd personally just get me a bad ass side by side for the farm

why not buy a 2016-2017 in the 2.7 4x4? Your comparing the good ol days of 4 banging to the top of the line V6. The 4 banger is still offered at 28k...

Buy a new 4 banger or buy another old toyota truck?

I don't think anybody actually needs the Pro over the other trim levels offered.

Cause its a given fact that these old Toyotas will outlast any new vehicle. Vehi less nowadays are built not to last but to need parts therefore making you spend more money. Back then, making a truck that lasted longer than the other guys was what it was all about.

Never said they aren't "awesome" but I bet they won't hold up and perform like a first or second gen pickup.

    God I hope not.

I don't want my truck to rust away, or have the frame break in half.

4 banger manual transmission across all generations are about the same in terms of reliability, stick with what you know will last.

Only time can make that judgement. Its hard to state its a fact until it is a fact. I know there have been a lot of issues with the 2nd gen also which you stated was so much better than a 3rd gen.

Second gens had their issues yes but the 22r and 22re are two of the most reliable motor ever made. People are already making claims about the 3.5 Atkinson being underpowered

Well I for one dont find it underpowered, some do and others find the 2nd gen underpowered also. As far as the 22r engine i will have to agree it probably was toyotas best engine but as far as i think i know those are no longer made.

I paid 29.9K for a V6 DCSB 4X4 SR5..... I don't think the Pro is worth the premium. I'd use the cash savings and buy a better suspension for a TRD OR or SR5 (and add a locker).

I hope my frame doesn't rust in half.

The 3.5 makes plenty of power. Punch it and it'll scoot for a V6 in a mid-sized truck. Most folks just aren't used to the fact it makes power at a higher RPM band. It also runs a heck of a lot smoother at higher RPMs than the 4 liter did.

You're just paying for the name on the Pro. I went with an SR5 and put a leveling kit, wheels, and tires for $2100. My MSRP was $35,940 vs. $44,867 for an auto with running boards and led's in the bed. I'd go with a suspension lift for a little more if you're going for serious off roading. Mine is used for commuting and various farm chores. No serious offroading. The only benefit to the Pro, is you get some of that expense back when you trade it. I couldn't justify the extra $9000 for a Pro vs. the $2K I am spending to get it to sit up higher. I really wanted the Sport for the power rear window and hood scoop, but couldn't find a 17 in the colors I wanted.
