    If you're not using a drill press, 1/2" is a big bit to start with. Maybe try a step bit/uni bit instead.

    When cutting big I just go up in size 3 steps and use used motor oil.

    I have a drill press. Drilling 1/4" - 3/8 spring steel into my Dakar Leafs for isolators. My truck is a DD and I hate squeaking.

    Good advice. I'll go with this idea.
