Leer 100R cap. K&N air filter. Bilstein 6112. Bilstein 5160.
If you hold the 6112 up next to a 5100 it's MUCH beefier. More dampening. Better ride.

I didn't much go for lift. My big dogs use a ramp to get up the back into the bed. It's already high enough of an angle for their fat ass so I just have the stock (recalled/new) springs in rear and the 6112s up front set on the fist notch. With my cap on it's perfectly leveled out now.

I installed the 6112/5160 combo with Wheelers 3 leaf prog AAL on Labor Day.

I went on the mild side- 6112's set on notch 3 and a 1/4" spacer on the drivers side. Nice even measurements, basically gained 1.5" in the front (as advertised). I ran the Wheeler's prog 3 leaf add a leaf in the rear and gained 2" lift back there ( I removed the factory overload). I suspect it will settle to about 1.5" rear lift as well. Stock UCA's and I got it aligned yesterday and it all came into spec just fine.

no love for fox shox on this forum? just curious what you guys know about their truck suspension. i come from downhill mountain biking and have nothing but great things to say about fox suspension, but see very few people running them on their taco's.

There are guys running Fox suspensions, however that's a bump in price relative to the components discussed in this thread.

I went with the 6112/ 5160 combo also. Had the Fox 2.5's all ordred up, but they went on backorder and I ended up with Bilstein's instead. Saved about $500.
Got these all assembled from Wheeler's, so they were a straight drop in.

No lift yet, as I didn't get anything for the rear. Needs the front lean spacer though. Just left on the first notch and it somewhat leveled out the truck. Ride is very plush and no weird tendencies. Did a quick alignment on driveway after taking baseline settings to re-zero toe.

It is a nice ride, isn't it? I find it much better than the OR stock Bilstein's but certainly not harsh in any fashion. Very predictable. I like it a lot.

Yeah, I love them so far! I didn't think the stock dampers were "jarring" by any means, but these Bilstein's are super PLUSH! No ill effects to handling or body roll. That will change when I lift it up a bit probably, but I can't decide on which rear AAL's to go with. I'm really liking your setup though! Sweet setup you got there.

Are rear blocks really that bad to go with? I know it's cheap, but all the shops still sell them as well.

I didn't lift my rear either, and also left the first notch on the 6112s. Leveled it out and still low enough for my fat dogs to get in the bed of the truck. Rides awesome after 6 months of use. Nice and cush feel.

Honestly I don't know if blocks are necessarily 'bad'. I would guess a lot of it depends on what you intend to do with the truck. For the price of the prog 3 leaf AAL and the loads I typically carry- that was my route. Who knows maybe I'll need to go full bore Dakar at some point.

As far as defined detriments with using blocks- I'd ask a suspension guru or vendor.

I can't believe how light those stock rear shocks were! I'm guessing 5 lbs. a piece!

I tried doing a little research on the resi mounts that are attached to the shock body. They're $43-$50 each it seems for the option part.
Anyone know where there's a more economical solution for a clamp setup? Trying to get the resi and main body together as one. I can do the hose clamp route, but the alignment spacers are what I'd be looking for. Are there other aftermarket units out there that can work?
    Thanks for any input!

Looks like I'm gonna have to bug YotaDan again from wheeler's. Gotta do my research first! Thanks Threerun!

6112/5160 Combo, LR UCA's, ICON AAL (no overload spring),Firestone Ride-rites, daystar cradles.
Love my ride just took the boat on a 2 week vacation and rides/towed like a dream. I get a little rub at the stock front mudflap drivers side. Set on 3rd notch. My front end guy loves the LR UCA's as the adjustability. I get no settling in the rear and surprisingly whether its the shocks or the springs I only needed around 10 psi on my ride-rites. Truck was 1/2" lower in back with boat at ~400 tongue weight. My ski Brendella is ~3750? trailer is double axle with front axle surge brake. Like I say would recommend Headstrong and this set-up to anyone.

I've heard Fox are awesome, just more money than Bilstein. That was the only reason I steered away from them.

Because it seems this thread is for 6112 set ups...

My brother in law is trying to push me to go more than 2 inches by way of a drop bracket. I thought that was a stupid idea because you aren't lifting anything in the front end.... He thinks more lift is always better and I only want 2 inches and not much bigger tire... He told my wife this and now she is stuck on it because it's more lift for less money. Help?

It's your truck, do as you want.

As far as I'm concerned less than $1,500 for 2" of lift and a ride quality superior to the stock OR suspension is a damn good bargain. I was expecting 1.5" lift in the rear, I'm still at 2" a month after install so it looks like I'll reset the front 6112's from the 3rd to the 4th notch. I'll still have a rake, but not as pronounced.

I've got that adjustability option at a decent price.

Thanks. How is the CV angle and brake lines with the current lift?

Did you go with the 3 leaf AAL in the back? and what notch on the 6112's? Curious about the rear as I have an access cab with a cap and 100 to 250+ lbs extra with kayaks, sleeping platform and camping gear 50% of the time. The other 50% its just the cap as my platform comes out in less than 5 minuets. I usually have about 20 to 30 psi in my rear airbags when fully loaded. When I lift I want to get rid of the air bags all together.

I'm assuming you didn't go this route because the OME springs will not work with these shocks as far as I know. So just incase anybody reads through this thread and thinks otherwise the only springs to use are the ones that come with the 6112 or an aftermarket 3" diameter spring made for coil-overs. Wheelers sells 650lb and 700lb set of coils that will work, and I believe they are 14". The 6112's come with 600lb coils.
