This is the image on my wifes new RAV4. The lines turn with the steering wheel, why doesn't our Tacomas?

Probably because it isn't a RAV. Different vehicle, different hardware/software. I'm almost positive no one here will be able to answer this question since nobody was involved in the design of the truck. To me, it's just a feature that I could care less about though.

Just a guess, but could it be because you're much more likely to modify your truck height and wheels and throw off the guides so they just give a static image? Not sure if those things would actually have much effect though.

It's nice when turning while backing up.

I like that. Makes hooking into a trailer way easier.

Only odd thing is that the hitch is offcenter.

Being a self diagnosed ocd poster child, I can't tell you how much that bothers me.

I believe it has something to do with the fact that the Rav 4 is electric power steering and we do not. At least that's how it works on the Acura's that I have to deal with every day.

The Tacoma BU camera is designed with the thought of attaching a trailer. That's why the lines don't move and there is an very steep down angle. Putting moving lines on it would confuse the crap out of some sheeple backing a trailer. They fully expect a person to never hook a trailer up to a RAV4.
The camera on my wife's Rover is a solid foot off center. That thing really bugs the crap out of me.

I've used the back-up lines in a 2015 Highlander and they are awesome. You could drive the vehicle backward without ever having to look over your shoulder! The Tacoma not having this feature makes sense when explained, but I still wouldn't mind the technology boost.

The Rav has the fixed lines like the Tacoma but also have the green, yellow and red lines that move when the steering wheel is turned.

Interesting. I didn't know people pulled trailers behind their Camrys so often. :D

The 2016s I looked at with my daughter four months ago had static BU camera lines.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
My '15 Mustang GT and My wife's Scooby Forester both have electric steering and the lines on the display twist as you back up. I have driven all three vehicles numerous times and personally find it easier to back into a space with my Taco. I am way more accurate in final vehicle placement with the static display. Just my $.02

But does the Rav4 have a go pro mount on the windshield? Different vehicles, different features.
