I've given up on rollers of any kind(castors or the recessed roller blade style). I've had countless bags broken by airlines this past year(mainly american, but also delta and jet blue) and the best thing I've found is duffel bags. I've got a smaller one for overnight-3 day trips(carry on complaint) and a larger patagonia one that the straps can be used to make it like a backpack. I carry laptop and.anything breakable in my laptop messanger bag.

They've busted wheels of both styles, cracked hard side cases, ripped soft sided luggage. After making a claim almost every trip for busted luggage I switched to duffels and have had great luck. It could also be.cause I have to take a lot of puddle jumper prop planes.and even carry on compliant bags (besides my laptop bag) don't fit in the cabin and are always gated checked.

All of my luggage is ogio and I travel a ton, no problems so far. I have to have wheeled stuff. My shoulder can't take the straps

They work well, a lot of e-workers use them when they come in the office

 

Haven't tried that. Used standard stuff(samsonite, etc...) And they always break it. Once you go duffel you'll never go back

 

My full size got dragged and all messed up about 5 years ago. Delta gave me a credit to make up for it, but I still use the thing today and it works fine. Not pretty though haha

 

I have a question for the people that have plasti dipped wheels. Do you tape them off or just let it overspray?

 

They also make duffels with wheels. I just like them, especially when you have to haul ass to make a connection much easier to run with a duffel over the shoulder then dragging luggage
