That's ok I reviewed the TSB and my vin is on there. I have yet to experience any shifting problems or delayed shift. If is still very warm where I live. When I schedule my 5000 mile checkup I will have them do the TSB

    Thanks

My 16 OR is doing the same thing but my VIN is not on the TBS list. Guess I'll be calling the dealer today.

    VIN is 5TFCZ5AN

My 17 is doing this and is on the list. Maybe there is a reason to use the old software in the absence of symptoms? Maybe that's why they aren't just putting on wholesale?

If you're building 100,000 units you get a great discount buying parts in bulk. I suspect they bought more ECMs than they made 2016's. When it's time to make the 2017s, because there is functionally very little difference, they continued to use the ECM from inventory. Essentially they changed the 2016 to a 2017, but they wouldn't get rid of perfectly good unused ECMs just because they were from 2016. There's no doubt tons of parts from 2016 in our 2017's, and that's fine and normal. This is one of them I'm willing to bet, and that's why my 2017 was on the TSB list.

I'd contact the dealer, they can plug in your VIN and check it.

However, most will not know what you're talking about, so I'd try to find someone who does first.

With that said, does it feel good to you? If you're not sure if it's not good, it's probably fine. If you think something is wrong, two possibilities:
    1. You're reading too much information on TW about this, which is like talking to paranoid people about conspiracy theories :)
    2. You might actually need it. Does your tranny hang for a second or so from P > D or R > D before it goes into drive? It will almost feel like you're in neutral for a second or so. This only occurs when the fluid is cooled, typically in the morning or if you haven't driven in a while and it cooled down.

So I contacted the Internet Sales Director who has my 2017 TRD Sport on hold until I make the purchase in a few days. He said he spoke with the Service Dept and that they stated since it is a 2017 it doesn't need the 0077-16 flash.

Is this something where I should just take delivery of the vehicle and wait for problems to occur and then take back to dealer wasting time and energy, or should I insist that they do the flash before I make the purchase. Man, shouldn't buying a new fickin truck be a fun and pleasurable experience and not having to hurry about a damn TSB!

I'm assuming because the current TSB doesn't list a 2017 model year on the TSB. Not sure if the techsteam will tell you the current software and show a update if one is available. I will find out soon as my truck is Due in tomorrow and I may just ended up doing the TSB myself or atleast seeing what it shows

Well the VIN of the truck they have for me matches one of the VIN codes listed on the TSB! And I pointed this fact out to the Sales Director.

Service departments are funny about TSB's. If it doesn't like a certain model year even though a vin may show its effected they will and can refuse to do the TSB or say it's not effected. The thing we don't know is if the 2017's are in fact coming with the updated software. One would assume that they should be and the VDS breakdown of the VIN I don't believe contains any model year info. I'm trying to find an accurate Toyora VDS breakdown so we can see exactly what that part of the vin means and see if model year is somehow included. I read something that they changed the vin configurations in 2009 and all the Toyota VDS stuff I'm finding is older info

Don't take delivery until they flash it. You'll be sorry if you do.

Right? But they've given me some pushback already on the TSB. And the whole process takes a whopping 0.4 of an hour to do.

According to that my Pro is part of it. I have noticed hesitation in the transmission engaging when put into drive & the cruise control issue.

My dealer also told me the 17's didn't have the low fluid problem. I requested the fluid level check and it was about a quart low. Don't take the sales guy's word. If it already has the new software and they do the TSB anyways it's not like it's gonna hurt anything.

Exactly. If yours does have the update, it won't allow the same update again. Refuse to sign and leave until it gets done. It is worth the extra headache to have it done before you take delivery so you don't have to come back to get it done several weeks later.

Seems at this point it's moot anyway, as soon as I started to press these matters with fact they have blown me off and quit responding.
