I need a new third member in my truck and was trying to find a used low mileage one instead of sending mine in for rebuild, I found one from a 2014 TRD access cab 4x4 his axle code is A04A, Mine in my 2006 TRD dcsb 4x4 The axle code is A04B. I am just wanting to swap the third member, will the one out of his truck work in mine?

Found this great link about de-coding axle codes, but still a little confused if I can use this third member.. http://www.brian894x4.com/Gearratiosanddiffs.html

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don't say what your TRD is? Is it a sport or offroad? Are we talking v6 or I4? Same for the replacement your looking at. We need to know these things in order to answer your question. I feel it's more about model than it is axle code, models have pretty much the same axles thru the years except the sports that changed from mechanical LSD to computer traction control in 09 IIRC.

Both are V6 TRD off roads with the e locker, Mine is auto, and his is manual trans... I am pretty sure the axle and third member will "fit" just more concerned with the Gear ratios, and the "2 pinion" vs "4 pinion".... According to the axle code, and the chart I posted above, I have a 4 pinion and he has a 2 pinion... Just looking for someone with more insight into this than myself, before I buy a third member thats not going to work for me.

Thank you, I am familiar with them, I just didn't think its really proper etiquette to call a business and have them spend time helping me with something when the whole reason I am trying to find this information is so I can avoid using their service in the first place, if that makes sense. It just doesn't feel right, and plus there has to be someone on this forum that can give me the same and or better answers than them.

I guess I'm the opposite, if I know there is an expert out there I call, whether I can buy the product that instant is irrelevant. To me it's a way to judge customer service. Also you might need an install kit or bearing or seal or something you should do now that it's apart. Good luck

Ok Well After some language barrier issues with the seller of the axle, I determined it did in fact not have a locker.

Next question---- Which I believe I already know the answer is yes.. I have read for the last hour, some people say it won't some say it will.

Will a e-locker third member (with the same gearing as mine) from a 2003 tacoma be the same as my 2006 e locker third member

here is a picture from east coast gear supply where the order forum for all these different axles are the same:

Only thing Im a little confused is when checking out it says you need a "double drilled flange" for vehicles 2003 and newer, so if I was using a flange out of a 2003 just hoping it will work with my 2006.

For others reference, I bought the 2003 third member, and it was the exact same as mine, only needed to change the pinion flange because it was smaller than my 06.
