I tried to use a friend's bad elf gps buy it wouldn't pair with my nexus 7. A new tablet with expandable memory is on the short list of things to buy. But even my old nexus 7 works well for gps. It does take a minute to get a gps lock, but after that it's USUALLY fine.

sweet. thanks for the input guys. After this last weekend/trip, i'm forsure getting a compressor asap, then as soon as possible after that a bumper&winch. Having some sort of GPS capability would be nice as well.

and my gf agreed to split an ARB fridge with me next spring! apparently she's as tired of wet food as i am

You can get tablets that have internal gps VERY cheap. I bought my nexus 7 a year ago for $40 on eBay... If your an Apple person... Well nevermind about cheap anything.

This is what I'll probably upgrade to.. or similar. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TR05L9Y/

You can find Asus tablets new under $100. The biggest thing is GPS and expandable storage. Mapping stuff really doesn't require a breakneck processor.

The 55-200 lense i have on bobs camera did pretty damn good photos last night for my eyes.
And steve told me that you cant auto focus at night so if its only going to be used at night and you can find a manual one cheaper and need to be cheaper then there is an idea.

AFAIK, this is one of the better bang for you buck lenses for night shooting, just wanted to see if any of yall had experience with it. There's been lots of photography talk in there
